In about 1999 we planted the first old English and French heritage cider apples on our farm at Robertson, NSW. We had been impressed by the quality of organic cider available at a restaurant in London and were inspired about the possibility of producing an Australian organic cider at Robertson. The first planting of apples was successful and in the year 2000 we planted the first part of what was t
o become Misty Cottage Orchard, named for our guest cottage. The apples flourished and in 2001 we planted the next part of the Orchard. Over the next four years we planted out the rest of Misty Cottage Orchard and then in about 2008 we started planting a second orchard, named Red Fox Orchard for the family of foxes that has always lived in the gully beside the Orchard. More recently we have planted out Hillview Orchard with a range of cider apple and quince trees. We make cider in small batches from over 50 varieties of cider and heritage apples produced in Misty Cottage, Red Fox and Hillview Orchards. Our ciders are sparkling, dry to medium, and rich in flavor. We are presently selling our Astral Dry Sparkling 2015 and Quasar Dry Sparkling 2017 ciders through regional restaurants and through our website - www.pomologistcider.com.au.
