s has finally come to fruition. The East Friesian breed is the world’s highest producing dairy sheep. Originally from the Netherlands, introduced into Australia in the 90’s and have since been only breed by a few producers. The ewes are ideally suited to Robertson where they graze on lush pasture grown on rich red basalt soils. It is this wonderful combination of pasture and genetics which gives them the most amazing milk for their cheeses. The benefits of ewe’s milk are numerous. It has been found to be beneficial for people who suffer from asthma and eczema and can possibly assist with other skin irritations as well. Further, people who are lactose intolerant are often able to tolerate sheep milk. It is incredibly nutritious milk with double the calcium, phosphorus and zinc and the all-important B group Vitamins, wonderful for children. (www.sheepdairying.co.uk/)

We think Bloomy is perfectly paired with a Pinot Grigio or Semillon, Jamberoo Mountain Blue is lovely with a Toquay or Medium Sherry and Mezza compliments a jammy Shiraz or contrast with Single Malt Whiskey.

In a world that celebrates the loudest voice, deep listening is uncommon and often, uncomfortable.

When I was learning with I was introduced to the idea of a Listening Circle, a process inspired by First Nations wisdom, where everyone speaks in turn, and everyone listens with intention.

No one interrupts.
No one plans their reply.
We listen, not to fix or judge, but to truly hear.

It struck me how rarely we offer that kind of attention.
So much of our energy goes into talking, persuading, presenting, convincing, when the real wisdom often comes from silence.

Deep listening isn’t passive. It’s active presence. It’s humility.
It’s the courage to hold space for perspectives that challenge our own.

If we want to influence and change things, maybe it starts with how deeply we’re willing to listen.

Is this something which resonates with you?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to let go of something you built with your own hands, with so much love and perseverance.

When Pecora Dairy came to an end, it wasn’t just about closing a business, it was about ending a chapter that had shaped every part of my life. For years, the rhythm of the farm, the milk, the cheese, the people, it all defined who I was.

Letting it go was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. But also, one of the most liberating.

Because somewhere along the way, I realised that identity doesn’t live in a business name or a product, it lives in the courage to start again. Identity is not fixed, we can all rewrite ours.

Pecora Dairy taught me more than I could ever fit into a caption, about tenacity, excellence, mistakes and grit. But perhaps the greatest lesson was this: endings aren’t failures. They’re invitations to evolve.

This next season looks different for me, lees about cheese and sheep and more about people, leadership, and helping others find their own version of courage.

If you’ve ever had to let go of something you loved in order to grow, I see you. 🌿

After 15 years of living and breathing Pecora Dairy, the time has come to close this incredible chapter.
🐑
When we started back in 2010, bootstrapping our way into the world of cheesemaking, we never could have imagined how far we’d go. With laser focus, persistence, and more than a little stubbornness, we grew from miking 30 ewe's, making enough cheese for our local market to a national brand, sending our cheese across the country.
🐑
It’s been a wild ride, filled with enormous highs, hard lessons, and unforgettable moments. We studied in Europe, met incredible people all over the world and endlessly pursued excellence.
🐑
This has been an incredibly hard decision to make, but we’re proud to be going out on top, knowing we gave it everything we had.
🐑
To our wonderful customers, thank you. Your loyalty and encouragement carried us through every stage of this journey. To the chefs who believed in Australian artisan cheese and put it on your menus, thank you. To the distributors who backed us, we couldn’t have done it without you.
🐑
We’re deeply grateful for the community that surrounded Pecora Dairy. Thank you for being part of the story.
