s has finally come to fruition. The East Friesian breed is the world’s highest producing dairy sheep. Originally from the Netherlands, introduced into Australia in the 90’s and have since been only breed by a few producers. The ewes are ideally suited to Robertson where they graze on lush pasture grown on rich red basalt soils. It is this wonderful combination of pasture and genetics which gives them the most amazing milk for their cheeses. The benefits of ewe’s milk are numerous. It has been found to be beneficial for people who suffer from asthma and eczema and can possibly assist with other skin irritations as well. Further, people who are lactose intolerant are often able to tolerate sheep milk.
