After a week of weather at 40° plus, yesterday our beef week open day started out nicely after the cool change rolled in very early Sunday morning, so we were enjoying the 28° and so were the cattle even though there was a strong southerly blowing, then at around 4.30 things changed very quickly when a fire started on the highway just south of us, fortunately the local brigades got things under control with the assistance of the helicopter shown here using our dam for their water source.
Needless to say our cattle got a very unexpected close up view of a chopper almost landing in the paddock with them as he lowered down in to the dam, after numerous loads were extracted along with the fire trucks also filling from the same dam that brilliant Hereford temperament we've always loved didn't let us down.
Love our HEREFORDS.
Thanks to all the volunteers who attended the fire and had it controlled in such a short time.
