Central President John Baker recently represented local landholders at the CRC TiME Post-Mining Land Use workshop in Moranbah. The discussions focused on how mining regions can transition beyond mine closure, including future land uses, rehabilitation outcomes, and opportunities for new industries.

A key message was the importance of planning now for the future of our regional communities. As mines close, maintaining essential services and creating new economic opportunities will be critical to ensuring our towns remain viable places to live and work.

These conversations are an important first step, and landholder input will continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of our regions. If you have ideas or thoughts on post-mining land use, we'd love to hear them.

The Queensland Gov is preparing to release general reserve unallocated water in Subcatchment E of the Burdekin Basin water plan in late December 2026 to support agriculture and other industries 🌾 🐄

Following online stakeholder discussions in September, the Qld Gov is now planning face-to-face information sessions in late October.

These sessions are an opportunity to:
💬 Ask questions and share feedback in an open forum.
💧 Learn more about the proposed water release process.
🤝 Engage directly with Qld Gov representatives.

Sessions will be held in Kilcummin on 26 Oct, Clermont on 27 Oct and Alpha on 28 Oct.

🌱🚜 Future Force Hits Rockhampton! 🚜🌱

That concludes an action-packed two-day Future Force program in Rockhampton, with students gaining firsthand experience across a range of agricultural industries.

From touring a local sweet potato farm and completing a Chemical Application Certificate with the AgForce Training team, to attending the Brangus Sale and taking part in a mock auction at CQLX Gracemere, students were given a fantastic insight into the many career opportunities agriculture has to offer.

A huge thank you to everyone who shared their knowledge and experiences with the next generation of industry leaders. 👏🐂
