We are at the POP UP GOODWOOD FARMERS MARKET @ Adelaide Showground Farmers Market today. Find us at the Goodwood Road end, against the southern fence. We are next to the lovely juices of The Garden Farmer and just across from the wonderful sourdough of the Basket Range Baker.

The name Shepherds Pie is a particularly apt name for our final Day 5 LAMB WEEK RECIPE to celebrate BUY SA WEEK.


With Shepherds being people to care for flocks of sheep.

As you are likely aware from the familiar Christmas Carol “while shepherds watch their flocks by night”.


Shepherds Pie is believed to have emerged in the 17th century in England and Scotland as a way to make the most of leftover roast meats.

Cottage Pie is the Beef version of the same recipe.

This Shepherds Pie is a more tomato and lamb mince take on Shepherds Pie. Sometimes I mix it up with a more "gravy" type Shepherds Pie. However it comes, meat with veg and mashed potato - what is not to love!
