The Liebich’s were born into winemaking and have been custodians of quality vineyards and winemaking since 1919. Our winemaker, Ron, has been making wines in the Barossa for over 50 years. Together with his wife, Janet, they continue this long tradition and passion for sharing great wine, food and company. Our name is pronounced Lee-BICK wine, meaning “I love wine” in German.

Time for a road trip.

Since closing cellar door on Sundays, we decided to get away for a few days to Flinders Ranges. We were on the hunt for the elusive sturt desert pea, our state floral emblem. We achieved our mission.

What a spectacular sight seeing areas around Hawker and Blinman so lush and full of wildflowers.

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating with the Barossa community!

The 50th Barossa W**e Show was held this week. It was fantastic to hear about the history of the competition and the transition to w**es being entered from only Barossa fruit since the 2000's.

Ron and his daughter Briony enjoyed a long lunch toasting the best of the region. Ron was in his element tasting gold medal w**es and reflecting on his 57 years since graduating with an oenology degree.

We're still celebrating International Port W**e Day, although we can no longer use the term "Port" on labels.

September 10 is a day to celebrate the home of Port production in Portugal's Douro Valley, which happens to be the world's first regulated w**e region established 1756.

Australian fortified w**es haven't been able to use "Port" since 2006, due to an agreement with the European Union. A Fortified W**e Code of Practice was developed with Aussie w**emakers which is how the terms Tawny, Apera and Topaque came into use along with age statements Classic, Grand and Rare.

This is why our Liebich Rare Barossa Fortified range got these names; Rare Muscat, Rare Fronti, Rare Tawny. These are small batch blends averaging 25-30 years old in limited supply.

Things are changing around here

We've decided to change cellar door hours from 1 September 2026. After spending a few days away on the Eyre Peninsula, it reminded us that the fishing and caravanning spots are calling!

Liebichwein cellar door will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm. We'll also be open the first Sunday of each month from 12pm to 4pm.

Visits at other times are very welcome by appointment - just give us a call on (08) 8524 4543.
