Get home, just a quick coffee before a calf check… nope!
I think we can all agree that in 9 months time I’m going to get a wooly Angus! Far out! 😫

We caught this one just before the sun went down. This is number 5/47 for us. Another beautiful heifer.

Tagged and back to sleep.

We aim to tag our calves as close to dropping as possible.

This morning it was easy as this calf had gone under the fence.

Then to load this chunk into the buggy and back to mum.

Nothing is as heavy as a newborn calf. 😅

Calving season 2026 has kicked off!
With a beautiful little heifer!!!! 🙌

Well done Ruby. ❤️

I can’t believe 9 months has gone by once again and we are officially in calving season.

This is where things really get interesting.

This is where we find ourselves constantly checking the backsides of cows, rushing home before the sun goes down so we can check our girls, getting up before the sun in cold temperatures to check the girl who looked close to calving the night before. Tagging, recording , DNA sampling, feeding….

Nothing is more joyful than calving, sad at times, but usually the time where you find yourself saying: ‘this is what it’s all about.’

The AI girls. This is an exciting bunch. Hovering close to the yards, so we can keep a close eye on them.

Stevie of Stones Throw 11569💙

Dam: Erica Joy of Durness 8081
Sire: Blue BroGarth of Sea Crest 10113

Stevie is an 8 month old registered Scottish Highland Bull. He is only the second Highland Bull we have ever grown out at Stones Throw. Due to his structure, genetics and amazing temperament we decided to keep him entire.
He sure has proven himself.
Stevie is halter trained, docile and cooperative.
Stevie is vaccinated, drenched , myostatin free and parent verified.
He has been raised around our family, our dogs, cats and other cattle.

He will definitely be an amazing addition to a new fold.

Please let me know if you may be interested in Stevie.
