As SHEZA ALIBI effortlessly went about her job yesterday, securing her third Group 1 victory in spectacular fashion and confirming her status as one of the best horses in the country, she once again made Middlebrook Valley Lodge proud as a product of our famed nursery. But it’s easy to forget the team effort that goes into getting these horses to the track so we can appreciate them as we do.
While the spotlight falls on some individuals and is sought out by others, it’s the team behind the scenes that anonymously go about their work, day in, day out, seeking neither fame nor praise, but simply the satisfaction of a job well done and of seeing the horses they care for grow into stars of the track like Sheza Alibi, and countless others.
Nightwatch staff, day staff, truck drivers, office staff, farriers, veterinarians, farmers, gardeners... the list goes on. Long days and nights of hard work can sometimes be forgotten once the stars hit the track. We all know it takes a team, and every success a farm enjoys isn’t due to a single person, but to everyone involved from conception to racetrack success.
So, while we at MVL enjoy watching this equine superstar continue to build her imposing record, everyone on every farm should celebrate their successes when they come along. They don’t happen without the hard work of the teams who keep the wheels turning, day after day — especially at this time of year!
