The cows are enjoying their lucerne, and Cora is apparently trying to communicate with them 🐄

We’ve had some beautiful rain over the last couple of weeks, but after the long dry spell our paddocks are still recovering. Until the pasture fully bounces back, we’re supplementing with lucerne to keep the herd well fed.

The cows seem happy with the arrangement. Whether they’re answering Cora back is another question.

Yesterday we said goodbye to Honey, one of the farm’s longest-serving guardians.

Honey was a Maremma through and through. Gentle with chicks, protective of her people, and always keeping an eye on what was happening around the farm.

She could carefully pick up baby chicks and carry them without a scratch, howled at every siren she heard, and somehow still believed she was small enough to be a lap dog.

She lived a long life filled with paddocks to roam, rain to sleep in, and more chicken treats than she probably should have had.

Thank you for looking after us all these years, Honey.

And a heartfelt thank you to Josh, who helped dig a grave, move Honey, and check in on me through some very ugly crying with nothing but kindness and compassion. In moments like these, good people matter more than they know.

Rest easy, old girl. ❤️

Once we realised our mistake, we packed everything fresh and immediately froze it to lock in quality and freshness.

Our free range ducks are now available to order through our website.

Alexis cooked this one for dinner and somehow it tasted even better than it looked! Crispy golden skin, rich flavour and raised the way ducks should be — with plenty of room to roam and forage.

If you’re collecting your order from the farm, from next week (weather permitting) you’ll also be able to see the ducks enjoying their free-range paddock on the left-hand side of the driveway.

With the amount of rain we’ve had this week, these piglets have decided that mud is the place to be. 🐷🌧️

The team has worked tirelessly spreading tonnes of mulch to give them dry, comfortable areas to rest, but apparently they didn’t get the memo—because the piglets keep choosing the mud instead.

Some things never change.
