A little roasting machine update.
We’ve been getting stuck into our newly acquired roaster—cleaning, restoring, and modernising it for specialty coffee roasting.
It’s much bigger than what we need right now, but when the opportunity came up we couldn’t resist. A bigger pond for our Little Fish mindset—focused on quality, transparency, and doing things properly, not quickly.
Clean machinery matters. Across the coffee supply chain—from farm equipment to roasters to espresso machines—cleanliness and maintenance directly impact quality. We’ve been putting in the hours to strip it back, deep clean it, and bring everything up to standard. If your roaster (or cafe) keeps dirty equipment or poorly maintained equipment, run!
The work’s still ongoing, and we won’t be satisfied until we’re confident this machine can produce coffee to the LFCR standard.
As we grow, this roaster gives us room to expand without compromising what we care about most - the little machine (Thomas) will also continue to help roast from home, single origins, decaf and filter roasts.
A special thank you to our fathers, father-in-laws, and friends who’ve jumped in to help get this setup to where it is. It’s meant a lot having that support behind the scenes.
Most importantly, thank you. Every order, every message, every bit of support has helped make this possible—you’re a massive part of this journey.
Now back to the tools, upgrades, and late nights in the shared roasting space we are setting up.
