The last month - from a patch full of flowers to chopped back plants! You never know how long the season will last but we are thankful to have had flowers for so long this season! Now it’s time for the flowers (and us!) to rest!

Next week we will start digging up a proportion of our dahlias but the majority we will be left in the ground, which will be a first for us. Hoping that the tubers won’t get too wet! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

📸 Pics from mid April to early May

1. The patch was full of flowers after I returned from holidays in mid April, so much colour! But the flowers had started to go to seed and were definitely getting tired.

11. Early May most of the flowers are finished and have gone to seed
12. We started cutting back all our dahlias to allow them to put energy back to the tubers for next seasons growth!

It’s so hard to choose favourites when it comes to the dahlias but every season we find we are drawn to a particular one!
This season I have been enjoying a new addition to the patch, Florelie Antique bred by (pics 1-4) 🩷 It’s a beautiful soft pinky peach colour and reminds me of the Cafe Au Lait but it’s smaller and tighter in shape. We only have four plants so I’m looking forward to next season when we will hopefully have half a row!
Eliza has been loving an old time favourite Buckajo Watermelon (pics 5-8). The large bright watermelon wavy petals are stunning on its dark stem! We planted a row of them at the front of the patch so that they are one of the first flowers you see when entering the patch 🥰

Can you choose a favorite dahlia that you planted at home or picked from the farm this season?!

I accidentally forgot to post for a month 😂 So here’s some photos from March!!
March was beautiful in more ways than one. The dahlias in the patch shot up and produced so many blooms, we had lots of visitors including family and friends, we ran some offsite workshops and held lots of you pick sessions where we saw many returning faces!

Sharing the patch with others is one of our favourite things about growing flowers 🥰

We are officially in bloom! 🌸🌼🌸🌼

It was a beautiful sight walking up to the patch today and seeing it full of colour! It was also a bit of a relief to see that the flowers survived another 40+ degree day. Hopefully we don’t have any more of those anytime soon!

If you love flowers we’d love for you to join us at Bouquet Arranging Workshop on Feb 21 or one of our Pick Your Own Flower sessions starting on the 5th of Feb (with more dates to choose from!).

Our seasonal flower buckets can also be ordered from now until the end of March which are perfect for those who would like to DIY their own event flowers!

Head to our website for all the details or send us a message if you have any questions!

We hope to see you at the farm this flower season! 🩷

Our dahlia tuber shop closes tomorrow night! It’s your last chance to get your hands on some of our beautiful dahlias and get them in the ground so that you can also have some stunning blooms in February, March and hopefully April next year!
This year our patch is made up of 80% of dahlias (more than previous years) so we are excited to see our patch filled with these beautiful blooms we can’t get enough of!
The little dahlia shoots are all popping up now and we watching out for any pesky pests! With the combination of all the and sun and rain we are having I think they are going to grow quickly!
If you are growing dahlias, have you started to see any shoots pop up yet?🌱💐
