A massive thank you to everyone who took the time to comment and share their opinions on my recent post. 🙏

Every opinion is valid, and I genuinely appreciate the feedback — both the good and the constructive.

At the end of the day, I’m just trying to make TJ’s the best it can possibly be for every one of you in our community. Your feedback helps me understand what we’re doing right, where we can improve, and what you guys actually want from us.

Moving forward, we’ll be taking a lot of this feedback onboard and working on some new ideas, changes and new things in store.

TJ’s is still growing, still learning and still improving.

I want to be pretty open with everyone and ask for some genuine feedback.

I know Tuesdays are traditionally slow across hospitality. I understand that. But it’s hard to sit here on a quiet day, look down the road and see cars constantly flowing through McDonald’s, KFC and Hungry Jack’s, while we’re trying to offer good, wholesome food with the same drive-thru convenience.

So I need to ask — what are we doing wrong?

A little while ago I reached out and received some really useful feedback, particularly around our wait times. I listened, and we’ve been working hard to improve them and make TJ’s quicker and more convenient.

But if there are other things stopping you from coming in, I genuinely need to know.

Is it our prices?
Our menu?
Our opening hours?
Wait times?
Consistency?
Something we don’t offer?
Or is there something else entirely?

Because I can’t fix something if I don’t know it’s broken.

I’m not a multimillion-dollar corporation with endless money behind me. I’m a local bloke who took a massive gamble on an idea, built TJ’s and continues to put everything I can into making it work.

But the reality is that at the current level of trade during some parts of the day, something eventually has to change. That could mean significantly reducing our trading hours to cut costs — and if things don’t improve long-term, I have to be realistic about what that means for TJ’s.

I don’t want sympathy and I’m not asking people to spend money just because we’re a local business.

I want TJ’s to earn your business.

If McDonald’s, KFC or Hungry Jack’s is getting your business instead of us, tell me why. What are they giving you that TJ’s isn’t?

And please be honest. I’d rather hear something uncomfortable that I can actually fix than be told everything is great while I’m sitting here wondering what I’m missing.

I’ve listened before and made changes. I’ll listen again.

🔥 WE’RE BACK IN ACTION! 🥧🔥

TJ’s pies are officially BACK IN THE WARMER!

The new oven is fired up and we’ve currently got:

After having to pull the pin on pies because I wasn’t happy with the quality coming out of the old setup, it feels bloody good to have them back!

🔥 THE NEW OVEN IS FINALLY HERE! 🔥

After all the dramas we’ve had with our ovens lately, I’m bloody happy to say TJ’s new oven is officially up and running! 🙌

We’ve got the snag rolls in there right now putting it through its first proper test… and if everything goes to plan, there’s a very good chance the TJ’s pies will be BACK BY LUNCH TODAY! 🥧🔥

I know plenty of you have been hanging out for them, and I seriously appreciate everyone’s patience while we refused to put out pies that weren’t up to our standard.

New oven. Snag rolls cooking. Pies potentially by lunch.

🎉 TJ’S IS 1 YEAR OLD TODAY! 🎉

18 months ago, TJ’s was nothing more than a dream, a blank paddock and an idea.

No hospitality experience. No idea what I was getting myself into. Just a vision of creating something different and the determination to give it a crack.

And somehow… 12 months later, TJ’s is still standing and still pumping out bloody good food! 🔥🍔🥧

It definitely hasn’t been easy. We’ve had our fair share of problems, setbacks, equipment failures, stressful days and moments where we’ve wondered what the hell we got ourselves into 😂

We’ve made mistakes. We’ve learnt a hell of a lot. We’ve adapted, improved and kept pushing forward.

But through all of it, we’re still here.

And that wouldn’t be possible without every single person who has driven through, bought a coffee, smashed a brekkie wrap, grabbed a burger or pie, told a mate about us, shared a post or simply supported a small local business trying to make a go of it.

To our staff, our customers, our friends and everyone who has backed TJ’s over the last 12 months — THANK YOU. 🧡

Here’s to another 12 months… and hopefully many, many years beyond that.

From a dream and a blank paddock to TJ’s BBQ Café.
