Great to see some AGF produced Newton Winter Barley doing well in Gippsland.

Newton is a biomass powerhouse that starts growing prostrate before exploding with feed in Late Winter and Spring.

Thicker than a s**g carpet

Newton Winter Barley is filling out thick at Hick Seeds’ Trial Site in West Gippsland which was sown on April 22nd. With very high tillering ability, Newton, grows in a prostate style like a carpet, providing great competition for weeds, before bulking out to provide large amounts of biomass over winter and spring.

In AGF Seeds’ 2024 Forage Cereal trial Newton provided the highest biomass when compared to winter wheats and forage oats with significantly higher late winter and spring biomass production.

For silage, hay, or grazing operations, Newton, is a great dual-purpose variety for farmers who can take advantage of the extra biomass Newton can provide.

Target EnormoSil is a later maturity pairing of Forester Oats and Morgan Field Peas. This maturity gives more time for the Forester Oats to bulk and provide extra tonnage, while the bulky upright growth of Morgan Peas adds protein and improved digestibility for animal performance.
