Positions Vacant - Dairy Share Farmers 2026-2027 Season

40 South Dairies is an exciting dairy farming joint venture business located in the Northwest of Tasmania which currently operates 14 large dairy farms (650 to 1,700 cows per farm) plus 2 large dairy grazing blocks, all within a 30km radius of Smithton in Tasmania, Australia. All properties are among the highest per hectare pasture production and milk production dairy farms in Australia.

Our farms have been developed to a very high standard, with extremely high soil fertility, excellent drainage, high quality dairy cows and quality facilities. Rainfall is extremely reliable at 1000 to
1500mm – 50-70% of each property has irrigation to guarantee summer pasture production.

40 South Dairies also operate a large Dairy Beef enterprise which consists of a centralised calf rearing facility and a large Beef farm to grow out stock. 40 South is committed to rear and develop they dairy beef enterprise in the future.

The location offers many lifestyle opportunities with close interstate airport access, beautiful beaches, excellent fishing, bush walking, schooling and sporting options and many varied recreational and lifestyle activities.

We are seeking applications for share farming positions for the 2026-27 season.

Start date - 1 July 2026
The people we seek will have:
• High level management skills
• High level animal health understanding and practice
• Respect and pride in the dairy industry
• Strong understanding and focus on Workplace Health and Safety
• Proven leadership skills
• Excellent time management skills
• The ability to work as a team member and delegate tasks within farm labour structures
• Experience in winter crop management
• Experience and understanding of Easy Dairy Herd Management and Easy Dairy Draft systems
• Experience and understanding of the Nedap Cow Collar system
• High level communication skills, including reporting to Management both formally and informally

“Logan” Dairy Beef Operation – Positions Vacant – Multiple Roles
2IC and General Farm Hand Positions

Logan is a Beef growing pasture based farm which will support 40 South Dairies Beef F1 production.

40 South Daires currently operates a 14,000 Dairy Cow operation in the Northwest of Tasmania. The operation currently has 14 Dairies and 2 large Dairy grazing blocks which assists dairy grazing and winter agistment.

Logan is currently being developed to be our beef F1 growing area for 8-10,000 beefies produced from the dairy farms annually. Calves arrive at Logan at 90-100kgs (calves are reared in a company owned facility in the northwest) and will be grown to meet target weights determined by a secure market.

These positions offer the opportunity to be involved in a very dynamic Beef Operation at a level that is rare in Australia.

We seek staff who either have or are prepared to develop high level skills in animal health and agronomic areas.

40 South Dairies Pty Ltd are offering a fantastic opportunity to become part of our dynamic team at Illawong Plains, Montagu.

We are looking for an experienced General Farm Hand to work as part of the team on our run-off block. This is a full-time position for the right candidate, with remuneration under the Pastoral Award based on experience and qualifications.

Experience in the following is essential:

Current Driver’s Licence

Tractor driving

Stock management

Winter crop feeding

Drenching

ATV operation

A strong understanding of WHS is essential.
