Rainbow Valley is a privately owned and run small business established in 2008 by Ken and Robin Prokopec. Ken and Robin pride themselves on the temperament of their cattle and their successes in the show ring, competing regularly in shows such as the Royal Adelaide Show, Mount Gambier Show, Bendigo Show, Mount Pleasant Show and many more, against other larger and longer established breeds. Where is Rainbow Valley?

- Situated on the edge of the Barossa Valley.
- Approximately 10 minutes from the centre of Springton.
- Approximately 1 1/4 hours from Adelaide C*D. What are Square Meaters?

- An 'All Australian' beef breed developed in the 1990's from the original Murray Grey.
- Compact cattle with moderate frame and heavy muscling.
- Colours range from silver to dark grey.
- Quiet, friendly disposition for easy handling.
- Bulls must not exceed 113cm at the shoulder height at 12months of age, mature bulls weighing 700-850kg.
- Females 110cm at 12months, with mature cows weighing 450-600kg.
- Easy calving with good milking ability.
- Explosive early growth and high productivity with the critical fat and muscle requirements for slaughter at an early age.
- Compact size - more beef per hectare.

Taking it slow and soaking up some sunshine today…while getting in a bit of work. 🚜 🌱

The weather is just right — perfect for finishing up the last of the seeding while taking in the view.

Surrounded by the relaxed and quiet hum of nature, the only battle is getting the work finished before the sun goes down. Otherwise it’s just fresh air, good soil, good light, a little time to breathe…and some good doggos for company. 🌤️

Like many South Australian farmers, times have been tough for us and our Square Meaters cattle, with no rain since last year.

But we’re hoping the recent rains are a sign of positive change. Winter has turned into our favourite time of year! 🌱🌦️

We’re looking forward to sharing more of our herd, our farm and some insights into what life is like as an Australian beef cattle breeder. 🇦🇺
