Super excited and honoured to receive this amazing opportunity. Hoping to make new friends and connections in the seafood industry, bring back some useful tips and tricks, and share it all with you.
Let me know if you are attending or have attended Seafood Directions in the past 🦞
📣Our next WISA bursary recipient is Kristy Lee Rainbird from Bay of Fires Lobster! 🦞
A mother of two, wife and co-founder of Bay of Fires Lobster in St Helens, Tasmania, Kristy is passionate about supporting our coastal community, showcasing the story behind locally caught seafood, and helping build a sustainable future for Tasmania’s seafood industry. With more than 20 years’ experience in accounting, finance and business administration, she leads the financial, operational and strategic side of the business. Bay of Fires Lobster was honoured as the winner of the Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council Small Business of the Year Award. By attending Seafood Directions through this bursary program, Kristy hopes to gain practical knowledge, new industry perspectives and stronger professional networks that will help her continue growing as a leader within the seafood sector. She looks forward to connecting with other women in seafood, hear their experiences and build relationships that will strengthen her own development and the work she is doing within her business and community.
The 2026 WISA Seafood Directions State Bursary Program creates practical pathways for women to attend one of the seafood industry’s most important national forums, build networks and increase visibility in the conversations shaping the sector. WISA thanks our state partners for investing in local seafood talent and supporting women’s participation and leadership across the industry.
Kristy's bursary is sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania.
Stay tuned as we reveal the remaining our final bursary recipient over the coming days!
