Thompsons chestnuts are situated on 40 hectares in the foothills of Stanley, a premier chestnut growing climate, with one of the best chestnut and cherry farming infrastructures in the district. Brendon Thompson is the 3rd generation owner of Thompson Chestnuts. His grandfather, Reuben Thompson founded the business in the 1940s. Brendon's father, Pat Thompson passed on his expertise and knowledge
to Brendon, who also completed an apprenticeship in Horticulture. Brendon has combined this vast experience with modern technology, purchasing a FACMA harvester to increase productivity and yield high-quality produce. In addition, we have a Sadie Sweeper, and Shrek; a unique machine invented to deburr the chestnuts. Sam Thompson, the youngest member of the family, has also come on board as a full-time employee. He brings much knowledge as a fully qualified electrician and is very capable of fixing anything. We are a family-run business with Lyn, Brendon’s mother still popping in during harvest, to Mark, Cassie’s uncle, who comes with a “can do” attitude to Hannah, Sam’s girlfriend, who manages our social media content. Thompson Chestnuts are members of the Premium Chestnuts Australia Group, Chestnuts Australia Incorporated and are Freshcare accredited, soon to be HARPS accredited. Thompsons Chestnut's exports to overseas markets when needed and also sell to the domestic market. We pride ourselves in producing a high-quality product that is low on chemical use and as such are up to date on current chemical usage. CHERRIES
