Highland cows originate from the rugged Scottish Highlands and the Western Isles of Scotland. Bred for survival in harsh, freezing climates and sparse, rocky terrains, they are officially recognized as one of the oldest cattle breeds in the world, with origins dating back to the 6th century. Their signature shaggy double coat acts as insulation against icy gales, and their long fringe (the dossan) protects their eyes from both harsh weather and pesky insects. Our boys couldn’t be closer to their roots, here in the coolest place in Queensland 👌🏡🐮
