A big shout-out to Ashley Tombleson from Maranup Creek Farm, one of WA Chickens’ pullet growers in Nannup.

As a first-generation farmer, Ash produces pasture-raised, hand-reared and trained pullets for egg farms across WA. He also helps rehome the hens once they finish their commercial laying life.

This week’s retiring girls were rehomed throughout the South West after 16 months of laying at Nannup Natural Eggs. Full credit to Bill Evans for the outstanding condition of these hens. They are still laying at around 80% and could easily be mistaken for point-of-lay pullets.
Bill never cuts back on their care as they approach retirement.

Bill is a strong advocate for the pasture-raised egg industry and a valued mentor to many farmers in the sector. Thank you, Bill.

Rehoming these birds into backyards across WA gives them many more years of productive life and ensures no healthy hens go to waste.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this possible.
