Almost 2 million kilometres.

That’s how far our team travelled moving beehives across Australia over a 12-month period.

This video was filmed a few months ago, but it’s a great insight into the work that goes into preparing our bees for the winter months. As Keegan explains, Australian beekeeping often means following the seasons, chasing flowering events and relocating hives to keep our bees healthy and productive.

It’s a side of beekeeping most people never see - late nights, long drives, changing conditions - and plenty of hard work!

Varroa mite is one of the biggest challenges Australian beekeepers have faced in recent history.

While most people know bees for the honey they produce, their role in pollination is just as important - helping support the fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds that end up on our plates every day.

As Varroa continues to spread across Australia, beekeepers are adapting to a new reality of increased monitoring, hive management and ongoing treatment programs to help keep colonies healthy.

The good news? Australian beekeepers are resilient. Across the country, they’re working hard to protect their bees, support pollination services and ensure future generations can continue to enjoy the benefits that healthy bee populations provide.

From Shanghai to Thailand 🌏🐝

After an incredible few days at SIAL China, Keegan and Wes have now landed in Bangkok for THAIFEX - one of Asia’s biggest food and beverage trade exhibitions.

We’ve got a few huge days of connecting with international distributors, retailers and industry leaders while continuing to put Australian honey and Aussie beekeeping on the global stage 🍯

Seeing Fuzzy Bum reach new markets around the world is something we’re incredibly proud of - and there’s still plenty more to come.

Today is World Bee Day 🐝

A little reminder that these tiny legends do a lot more than just make honey.

Bees help pollinate the food we eat, support healthy ecosystems and keep Aussie agriculture buzzing along behind the scenes. Without them, our plates - and our planet - would look pretty different.

At Fuzzy Bum, we’re lucky enough to work alongside these incredible creatures every single day. And while there are definitely challenges facing bees and beekeepers right now, today’s a good excuse to appreciate just how important they are.

So here’s to the bees, the beekeepers and the thousands of little fuzzy workers out there doing their thing 🌼🍯

But behind the scenes, they’re helping pollinate the crops that keep Australia fed - increasing yield, improving produce quality and supporting healthier harvests across the country.

Every year, Aussie beekeepers move thousands of hives around the country to support farmers and agriculture. It’s a massive job, and one that’s becoming more challenging with the growing pressure and adaptation of Varroa Mite.
