Ray-Monde Deux Farm - Community Supported Agriculture

WILL YOU SUPPORT A LOCAL FARMER?

WE PRODUCE TASTY SUCCULENT LAMB, MUTTON, GOAT, BEEF ALL FREE RANGE RAISED ON OUR FARM AS WELL AS PRODUCING PINOT NOIR FROM 30YR OLD VINES JUST A STONE THROW FROM THE URBAN EDGE OF MELBOURNE. WE CAN DELIVER STRAIGHT TO YOUR DOOR!

We sell our farm produce direct to you. CSA members subscribe to a share for 12 months and then can chose to renew or move on. Our share prices are determined by a combination of our production, processing and logistical costs. We supply 3, 6, 8, 12kg boxes of lamb, beef, mutton, goat and wine (mixes are available). Your produce box will be delivered monthly to your home or you can collect it at an agreed time from the farm for a reduced price.

OUR PRODUCE - We farm Ryeland Sheep - an English heritage breed, Salers cattle - a French mountain breed and Boer goats originally from South Africa. Our Maremma dogs work vigilantly to protect our sheep from stray dog attacks. We also have industrious soil turners in our ancona chickens who occasional lay eggs, for this reason eggs will be an irregular inclusion in our food packs. OUR FARMS - We have planted thousands of native trees, setting aside land for wild life, creating windbreaks, and shade for livestock. One of the more significant farm initiatives we have implemented is "pasture cropping" to re-establish grass cover on bare ground, stimulating the soil microbiology and kick starting the native grasses. It is incredibly satisfying to see the gradual increase in native grasses which are better suited to our Australian environment. OUR LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT - Our lambs and kids are vaccinated at 6 weeks of age and will not see antibiotics drenches or lice treatment unless an emergency occurs. Animals that suffer trauma, such as a dog attack or difficult birthing will receive veterinary assistance. We are concerned with what is best for the animal and call this approach “Happy – Healthy – Humane”. We farm in the “Green Wedge” and would love to keep doing so but we need your help to enable us to remain sustainable and continue to farm on the Melbourne peri-urban fringe near Sunbury and Bacchus Marsh.
