None of this is illegal. That’s the part that should bother you.

Every claim in this carousel describes something a manufacturer is legally permitted to leave off a label. Not hidden. Not a scandal. Just legal.

Chicken goes through a chlorinated chiller — not declared. Transglutaminase binds off-cuts into a single fillet — classed as a processing aid, so it never appears in the ingredients. Thiabendazole goes onto apples after harvest and moves into the skin, then wax seals it there. Chlorpropham keeps stored potatoes from sprouting; Europe pulled its approval in 2020 and ours still stands.

And when someone does go looking: 85% of imported “extra virgin” olive oils tested here failed the standard. UC Davis tested 54 avocado oil products — 93% of the chips weren’t what the label said.

The label isn’t lying to you. It’s just answering a much narrower question than the one you’re asking.

We built My Organic Box around a shorter answer: certified organic, no post-harvest fungicide, no wax, and a grower we can name for everything in the box. You don’t have to decode anything.

Plant something that will outlive you. 🌱🍊

There is a kind of joy that comes from growing an orchard that is almost impossible to explain.

You plant a tree knowing your children will eat from it. And one day, their children might too.

You watch bare stone fruit trees in winter knowing they’ll explode into blossom in spring. You stand beneath orange trees heavy with fruit exactly when your body needs vitamin C. You know the macadamias will come again. You walk into the veggie garden and dinner is growing in the soil.

But the real magic is in the system.

We designed this garden 15 years ago around permaculture principles, with one idea at its heart:

Retain the energy.

Catch the rain instead of letting it leave the property.

Take cow and horse manure from next door and turn it into compost.

Feed the soil so the soil feeds the plants.

Design for sunlight, water, nutrients and seasons.

Create abundance from what is already around you.

And build a system that, once established, gives you far more than it takes from you.

No industrial food chain. No produce travelling thousands of kilometres. No dependency on a food system built around repeated chemical inputs.

Just soil, water, sunlight, compost, seasons and human hands.

And beauty matters.

Because the best system in the world fails if humans don’t want to engage with it.

I think this applies to almost everything we build.

A garden. A school. A business. Even a police force.

Design the system so energy is retained rather than wasted. Make it regenerative rather than extractive. And make it beautiful enough that people actually want to participate in it.

That’s what this orchard has taught me.

Fifteen years after the original design, it keeps flourishing.

It keeps feeding us.

It keeps giving back.

And perhaps the greatest thing you can grow isn’t the food at all.

It’s a living legacy for the people who come after you. 🌿

🍊 This is an organic orange. The only ingredient is… orange.

A typical conventional commercial orange orchard may receive approximately 15 spray applications during a growing season.

In higher pest or disease pressure years, that can increase to around 30.
Not every application is an insecticide or fungicide. They can include fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, foliar nutrients and other crop protection products.

A conventional supermarket orange may have been treated with fungicides such as imazalil or thiabendazole, insecticides, herbicides such as glyphosate, and other agricultural chemicals.

Many supermarket oranges are also picked weeks or even months before you eat them, then stored in refrigerated facilities and transported long distances before reaching the shelf.

When you choose certified organic produce, you’re choosing fruit grown without the synthetic pesticides and herbicides that are permitted in conventional farming.

Know where your food comes from.
Know what’s sprayed on it.
Know how long it’s been since it left the tree.

Because when you eat an orange…

All you want to be eating is an orange. 🍊

We wouldn’t be the Veggie Buddies without the Veggie Buddies song! 🌱🎶

Back in 2020, long before AI could help bring characters to life, I wrote this song with the help of my good mate It was the very beginning of a dream that has now grown into the animated world of Veggie Buddies.

Now Jack and Jill have come to life, ready to take kids on joyful adventures through the veggie garden, discovering where real food comes from and why growing, picking and eating fresh food is so much fun.

We’re taking a short break until mid August while we upgrade My Organic Box from the ground up. Over the coming month we’ll be refining our procedures, launching a new digital platform, and expanding our toxin free offering to make your experience even better. Our goal is to create a simpler, more reliable service with even greater transparency, improved communication, and an even stronger range of seasonal produce sourced from farmers who share our values.
Thank you for your patience and support while we make these improvements. We can’t wait to welcome you back with a better My Organic Box experience.
For more than 15 years, My Organic Box has been delivering honest, toxin free fruit and vegetables to homes across Sydney. Our mission has always been simple. To make it easier for families to eat fresh, healthy food while supporting Australian farmers who grow produce with care for the land and without unnecessary chemical sprays.

They want to put a “forever chemical” on our berries and allow up to 500 times more of it. 🍓
The chemical is called isocycloseram. It doesn’t break down. Not in the soil, not in the water, not in us.
And here’s the part that stopped me cold: the regulator’s own proposal comes with a warning label — that it’s “suspected of damaging unborn children.”
Two sentences later? “No risk to human health.”
Both of those can’t be true.
It’s not approved in the EU. And the public consultation on this? It closed two days ago, most Australians never even knew it was open.
I’ve watched enough of these decisions to know the only thing that’s ever stopped one is enough people finding out in time.
So share this with someone who buys berries for their kids. That’s how this changes. 👇
Follow for what’s actually on your food.

Not all apples are created equal 🍎

Many conventionally grown apples are sprayed multiple times throughout the growing season and can spend months in cold storage before reaching your kitchen.

Some are coated with food grade waxes to improve appearance and shelf life, and may be treated after harvest to help prevent spoilage during storage.

Our organic apples are different.

✓ Grown without synthetic pesticides
✓ No synthetic fungicide treatments after harvest
✓ Picked fresh and delivered straight to you
✓ Fewer hands touching your food
✓ Real flavour. Real freshness.

Food shouldn’t need a long journey, months in storage, or a shiny coating to look appealing.

Just fresh, seasonal fruit grown the way nature intended.

Are the apples in your fruit bowl as fresh as you think? 🍏

Everyone says fast food is the cheap option. It’s not. 🥩🥬 Every week we bulk-buy a meat box from our local farmer and bulk organic veg, then batch cook one Sunday night — lasagne, beef stroganoff, roast veg + rice. That’s four family dinners AND three kids’ lunchboxes, for a blended family of five. Cost-of-living crisis says cut corners. We batch cook instead. This is Batch Cooking 101. 👇
