The ultimate Filipino noodle debate is here! Which one gets your vote? 👇
🧡 Palabok is known for its delicate bihon noodles topped with a rich, savory orange shrimp sauce, chicharon, shrimp, garlic, and hard-boiled eggs. Light, silky, and packed with umami in every bite.
💛 Malabon, on the other hand, features thicker rice noodles with a richer, heartier seafood-inspired sauce. It’s generously loaded with shrimp, smoked fish flakes, squid, oysters (depending on the recipe), chicharon, and eggs—making every serving extra indulgent.
A Little History 📖
Pancit Palabok is believed to have originated in Central Luzon, particularly Pampanga. Its name comes from the Tagalog word labók, meaning “to mix” or “to blend,” referring to the delicious sauce that coats every strand of noodles.
Pancit Malabon traces its roots to Malabon City, once a thriving fishing community. Because of its proximity to Manila Bay, the dish evolved into a seafood-rich noodle specialty that proudly showcases the city’s coastal heritage.
