What do you do when you find a grape you can’t identify? 🍇

At Beconcini in San Miniato, Tuscany, a mysterious vine was simply marked “X”.

Then came the discovery: X was Tempranillo — the Spanish grape behind Rioja, growing in Tuscany. 🇮🇹

Rather than remove it, the Beconcini family embraced it, planting new vineyards from the original vines and creating the wine IXE.
Its name? “X” in the Tuscan dialect.

Today, IXE is 100% Tempranillo, made with indigenous yeasts and aged in oak.

A Spanish grape. A Tuscan mystery. One very unexpected wine.

Believe in the power of revival! 🌟
This Italian grape was on the brink of extinction, with fewer than 10 hectares remaining by the 1980s.

But a handful of passionate producers in Le Marche dared to dream big, bringing Lacrima back to life! Today, it thrives in Morro d'Alba, championed by visionaries like Filodivino, who pair it with stunning Verdicchio.

If you love organic wines with a real sense of place, Chakana deserves a spot on your table. 🍷🇦🇷

During our visit to Mendoza, we had the privilege of experiencing the heart of Chakana alongside Ignacio and Laura, who welcomed us with incredible warmth and generosity. Thank you both for such an insightful tour and for sharing the passion behind every bottle.

From their regenerative vineyards and biodynamic farming to their French and German oak program, every part of the winery reflects a simple philosophy: care for the land, respect nature, and great wines will follow. Even the sheep play their part in creating a thriving ecosystem. 🐑🌿

One of the highlights was tasting the spectacular Ayni range—a true expression of the Uco Valley. While we don't stock these wines (yet!), we proudly bring you Chakana's Estate Selection and Nuna ranges, which showcase the same commitment to purity, terroir and sustainability.

Thanks again, Ignacio and Laura, for an unforgettable visit. We can't wait to share more of Chakana with wine lovers across Australia.

Loveblock is built on a simple idea: step back and let the vineyard speak.

Through sustainable, low-intervention farming, they aim to reveal the true character of the land. Nothing overworked, nothing overdone. Just deliberate choices, and sometimes deliberate omissions, that let the wine show its purity.

The estate is led by Erica and Kim Crawford. Erica returned to winemaking after a career in medical science and business, drawn back by a desire to let nature take the lead. Kim brings over 30 years of winemaking experience, transforming rugged Marlborough land into a fully sustainable farm and vineyard.

Together, they’re farmers, winemakers, and innovators, working with nature to create wines of clarity and energy.
