🍷 2024 Pooley Syrah! 🍷

From Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, this remarkable cool-climate Syrah has achieved an extraordinary result at the 2026 Sydney Royal W**e Show, taking home three of the show’s most prestigious trophies.

The 2024 Pooley Syrah was awarded Best W**e of Show, Best Red W**e and Best Shiraz at the 2026 Sydney Royal W**e Show, competing against more than 1,500 w**es from across Australia.

It is a remarkable result, and particularly significant as the w**e became the first Tasmanian Shiraz to win both the Best Shiraz and Best Red W**e trophies at Sydney Royal.

The w**e had previously won Best Shiraz at the 2025 Royal Hobart W**e Show, further establishing the 2024 vintage as a standout for Pooley and highlighting the growing reputation of Tasmanian Shiraz on the national stage.

From the cool Coal River Valley climate, the w**e displays dark berry and cherry fruit alongside violet florals, white pepper and savoury complexity. The palate is finely structured, with fresh acidity and elegant tannins providing balance, length and definition. Rather than relying on sheer weight or power, it shows the freshness, detail and savoury character that makes cool-climate Tasmanian Syrah so compelling.

For Pooley, the result represents decades of belief in the potential of Shiraz in Tasmania. The variety was planted at their Cooinda Vale Vineyard in the early 2000s, and the 2024 Estate Syrah is a remarkable culmination of that long-term commitment.

The 2024 Pooley Syrah is a w**e that deserves attention not only because of its extraordinary list of trophies, but because it offers a fascinating expression of place, with the freshness, elegance and savoury complexity that define great cool-climate Shiraz.

From humble beginnings on a small South Australian farm, Coriole Vineyards have developed their label into a modern, environmentally conscious brand.

In the early 20th century, vines were first planted on a farm in McLaren Vale. A little over 40 years later, Hugh and Molly Lloyd purchased the vineyard and the original farm buildings. They released their first vintage two years later using those original Shiraz grapes.

🍷 Lake's Folly Hill Block Release! 🍷

Lake’s Folly needs little introduction. Established by Dr Max Lake in 1963, it was the first new vineyard planted in the Hunter Valley last century and has become one of Australia’s most iconic small w**e estates. Today, the Fogarty family and w**emaker Rodney Kempe continue the tradition of producing w**es that are distinctive, age-worthy and unmistakably Hunter Valley.

The Hill Block is one of the most distinctive sites within the Lake’s Folly vineyard, with heavy red soils over a layer of limestone. The site produces w**es with greater richness and depth while retaining the freshness and structure that have long been hallmarks of Lake’s Folly. The Hill Block Chardonnay was first produced in 2011, and has since become one of the estate’s most sought-after w**es.

2025 Lake’s Folly Hill Block Chardonnay

A rich and beautifully layered Chardonnay, showing ripe peach and stone-fruit characters alongside subtle French oak and a touch of toasty char. The palate is generous and textured, with ripe Chardonnay fruit balanced by finely integrated oak, creating a seamless w**e with impressive depth, balance and length.

2024 Lake’s Folly Hill Block Shiraz

The 2024 vintage marks only the sixth consecutive Shiraz produced by Lake’s Folly in its more than sixty-year history. Lifted red cherry aromas are complemented by subtle char and earthy, savoury notes, while the palate delivers generous red and black cherry and blackberry fruit. Matured in large-format 500-litre puncheons, the oak sits beautifully behind the fruit, allowing the character of this standout Hunter Valley site to shine.

🍷 Mmad Vineyard Release! 🍷

There is an impressive pedigree behind MMAD Vineyard. The project brings together the people behind some of Australia's most respected w**e names, including Shaw + Smith, Tolpuddle Vineyard and The Other W**e Co.

Their focus is a remarkable old-vine vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale, a site with sandy soils, ironstone beneath the surface and cooling coastal breezes that help create w**es with both concentration and freshness.

MMAD is very much about letting the vineyard do the talking. The Grenache vines date back to 1939, Shiraz to 1941 and Chenin Blanc to 1964. These remarkable old vines provide an incredible foundation for w**es that combine perfume, texture, concentration and natural balance.

There is also something particularly exciting about the philosophy behind MMAD. Rather than simply chasing the richness often associated with McLaren Vale, the focus is on producing w**es that reflect the vineyard with freshness, detail and restraint. The old vines, unique site and experienced team come together to create w**es that are both distinctly McLaren Vale and incredibly individual.
