🔴 Cattle yardings continue to fall, hitting their lowest since February this year. 📉
🔴 Victorian lamb slaughter lifted by 28,000 head week-on-week. 📈

Lower cattle yardings supported increases across most indicators this week, with young cattle throughput reaching its lowest level since May. Lamb slaughter increased significantly, led by a rise in Victorian processing numbers.

Over 5,300 attendees visited the QLD Beef Close Up activation presented by MLA at the 2026 Ekka, with 2,169 people stepping into the Australian Good Meat Paddock to Plate virtual reality experience. Together, they spent hundreds of hours learning, exploring and connecting with the story of Australian red meat. 🥩

This week delivered rain for much of southern Australia including WA, SA, NSW and Victoria, however soil moisture levels remain low in south-western WA and are below average in northern NSW and large parts of Queensland.

🔴 Most indicators across cattle and sheep categories fell over the week, despite smaller yardings. 📊
🔴 Mutton slaughter lifted 23% as some processors resume slaughter after scheduled maintenance periods. 📈

Conditions have started to dry out across several key livestock regions over the past month following the mild winter, including south-west WA, northern NSW and southern Queensland. This has begun to influence prices, with the impact most evident in restocker categories for both cattle and sheep.
