Dragon Beard Candy Australia (龍鬚糖) Ancient chinese delicacy Dragon Beard Candy is a traditional delicious sweet originating from the ancient Chinese palace.

In the past, only the emperor had the opportunity to taste it. Until 1911 when the Chinese Dynasty collapsed, that ordinary people were then able to taste this delicious sweet. After a period of time, the Hong Kong people started discovering it and introduced it to places beyond China, making it possible for everyone to have a chance to taste this rare treasure. The main ingredient of Dragon Beard Candy is corn syrup. This sugar is then stretched by hand into thousands of white silky threads. These threads are used to wrap the special filling which is made up of shredded coconut, peanuts and sesame. When you eat the Dragon Beard Candy, you can feel the softness and crispiness. This is a truly rare and unique dessert which will leave you speechless when you place it all in your mouth. Dragon Beard Master Gary Au is one of only a handful of people in the world who still performs the art of making Dragon beard candy. He has spent over 30 years perfecting the art and can be seen at markets, festivals and special events around town.
