We’re open now until 6 PM on weekdays, and we’ve finally added Sundays to our opening days! We’d love to see you soon.

💡Note: As mentioned in our previous post, paid Matcha tastings will be on hold for a bit. We’re planning to bring them back in September, so stay tuned!

Thank you for an unforgettable first month🌱

We are so grateful to everyone who has visited us since our opening. We have truly enjoyed sharing the world of Japanese tea with you.

We have an important update regarding our paid Matcha Tasting. Due to the high demand during our trial period, our current stock of matcha allocated for tasting is temporarily sold out.

To ensure we can provide the best possible experience, we have decided to pause our paid Matcha Tasting service until the end of August. We are currently working on updating our tasting content and booking process, and we look forward to welcoming you back with an improved experience in September!

In the meantime, you can still enjoy tasting our other Japanese teas—including Sencha, Hojicha, Genmaicha, and Black Tea—in store. We would love to see you there!

Every Thursday, we offer limited quantities of fresh shokupan (Japanese white bread) from AKIPAN.

Tomorrow, July 30th (Thu), we will have:

Tokyo Handa Tea is officially in Surry Hills! ✨

We softly opened yesterday and couldn’t be more excited. The Sydney winter is definitely here, so come escape the cold with a warm, comforting brew.

We are also incredibly grateful for all the stunning flowers we’ve received for our opening. Our tea is always on the menu, but this beautiful display won't last forever. Pop in to see them while they’re still fresh💐

Today is 八十八夜 (Hachiju-hachiya) in Japan—literally the "88th night" from 立春 (the start of spring)🌱

This marks the beginning of the first tea harvest of the year. Tea picked during this time, known as 新茶 (Shincha / new tea), has long been cherished as a symbol of health and longevity.

It’s packed with the fresh aroma, rich umami, and the vibrant energy of young tea buds. May this seasonal cup bring you a moment of peace and vitality.

The Art of Japanese Tea & Cookies

We are thrilled to unveil our limited-edition Japanese Tea Cookie Tin, a special project with the artisanal cookie specialist,

This collection features 12 unique varieties, each infused with our finest teas:
🍃 Organic Matcha “RAKUSUI”
🍂 Hojicha “Handa Kaori No. 2”
🌾 Genmaicha (Roasted Rice Tea)
🌿 Powdered Green Tea “Benifuki”
