Magical goodness. If you’re not growing food with compost you’re missing out! A balanced fertiliser, soil nourisher and microbe haven!!

It’s pretty much all I use to get my beds ready for spring planting!

If Somone in your family wants it, your neighbour likes it, it’s a pollinator, it’s a trap crop, it is pretty, you donate it to your local food bank or if the animals in your street like it then please go ahead and grow it.

if you’re growing in a small space and you want to be more intentional about what you eat and grow then think about what you actually like to eat and plant heaps of that.

Not controversial in my opinion.

Get out in the patch this weekend and plant your tomatoes!!

I pack heaps into a garden bed and make sure they are all working with each other. Gonna be an under crop I can tell.

I put the quick growers underneath the tomatoes so they will be well harvested by the time those plants grow too tall.

Small little acts against the big systems that control our lives. Feels like everyday a new article comes out about cost of living, poison in our food or something else bad for us that is done in the name of profit.

Start taking the small steps to rebel. We don’t have to tear it down, just make better choices.

Start with a little veggie patch.

This little bit of homework took me too long to realise. I am by nature a very eager person who just likes to get stuff done. And sometimes my garden suffered because of it.

The patch is a place to remind me to observe, consider and then act and it has served me well in many aspects of life.

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a thousand times! No one gets it right the first time, it’s ok to kill some crops. Every season you get better. Start now so when it matters you are ready to go!

Failure with compost is the best kind of failure!

Sustainable living starts with balancing your outputs and inputs. Don’t spend more money than you make, don’t buy more food than you eat, avoid consuming for consuming sake, eat local food that travels small distances. It doesn’t need to be massive differences.

A lot of people get the sustainability bug when they start growing their own food at home. What are you waiting for?
