We’ve been hibernating over winter… but it’s time to batten down the hatches for some Oakvale updates! 🐮🌱

First up, we have our two upcoming stud stars. We’ll go by their paddock names for now — Wh***ey & X-Man. 🤎

Today I started their halter training, and I can confirm it was much easier than I anticipated! These two boys are hand-fed treats every day, and it’s definitely made a difference. They’ve taken to it like little pros. 🥰

AND THEN… our spring calving is due to commence next week! 🎉

We’re very excited to see what arrives on the pasture this year. There’s nothing quite like waiting to see what the next generation brings! 🌱🐄

Stay tuned… Oakvale is officially waking up from its winter hibernation!

A taste of Oakvale Miniature Galloways share with our amazing neighbours.

This weekend we welcomed our neighbours to the farm for a special evening together, showcasing our new hot rocks and enjoying a meal that celebrated the connection between our land, our cattle, and the paddocks they call home.

Our Miniature Galloways are a breed we are incredibly passionate about. Known for their hardiness, gentle nature, they represent everything we value in sustainable, thoughtful hobby farming.

Raising cattle is a journey of care, patience, and respect — from nurturing healthy animals on our pastures to appreciating the food they provide. Sharing this experience with friends and neighbours was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the paddock-to-plate story in its most personal form.

This afternoon Paul and I picked up some new heifers to add to our growing herd, while discussing dinner options for the trip home, we noticed McDonald’s Kilmore had a drive-thru big enough for the stock trailer to fit, we thought “That’ll do” as we didn’t want leave the girls in the trailer stopped too long as it was getting dark and cold.

so they got to experience the drive-thru, we’re not entirely sure why they were a little unsettled with our dinner decision , probably just debating the menu options 😳.

Happy to report they’ve now settled in beautifully and are enjoying their new pastures. Welcome home, girls! 🌿🐄

An introduction post coming in the near future!
