I recently had the huge honour of writing the website copy for a new wine brand here in the Barossa.

Hatch Wines is a new venture for Chris Hatcher (or Hatch as he's known). With 50 years experience creating wines for some of Australia's most recognised labels, Chris is a legend in the industry. Turns out he also lives a few doors away from me.

I loved speaking with Chris about his winemaking journey and his plans for his new business. As someone who has always loved 1920s design and fashion, I'm a huge fan of his labels.

HATCH screwcap is unbelievably popular. It is an art deco design from the 1920s, my favourite era - think the Great Gatsby, the evolution of jazz, elegant dresses and dinner suits, speakeasy’s, the Charleston and breaking out of the oppressive post War years. Very reflective of my journey in wine. I grew up in a Methodist family with no alcohol in our lives and then I chased my passion for winemaking and now I am crafting my own wines.
