The Wine Traveller

The Wine Traveller The Wine Traveller is a bespoke wine merchant that specialises in Natural, Organic and Biodynamic wine. The result?

No added sugar, minimal chemical intervention, wild yeast, no added sugar We bring you wines that you probably haven’t tasted before such as Carmenere, Anglanico, Malbec, Torrontes, Rosso Conero, Pinotage and a whole host of other lesser known wines. To make things easy for you, our standard offering is a mixed dozen picked to best capture the flavours and spirit of a region. This is a great way t

o experiment and expand your wine experience, knowing that all of the wines have been through our tasting panel process and are great examples of their type. You can also mix and match your own selection, or order straight dozens too. We take the risk out of the equation; bravely doing the tasting for you! – in short, we drink the bad wine so that you don’t have to. You get the best examples of “the wines that the locals drink” delivered straight to your door.

This Malbec was grown almost a kilometre above sea level, and it completely changes the wine. 🏔️🍷

Most Malbec comes from lower down in Mendoza: warm days, warm nights, soft jammy fruit. But up in the Uco Valley, vineyards sit at 900 metres and higher, right in the foothills of the Andes, where nights can drop by up to 20 degrees.

That swing is the whole story. Grapes ripen slowly and hold onto their acidity instead of just turning to sugar, which is why altitude Malbec tastes so different: fresher fruit, brighter acid, way more structure.

Our La Celia Reserve Malbec comes from the very first winery ever planted in the Uco Valley, farming this exact land since 1890.

Altitude Malbec. Genuinely a different wine. Link in bio to shop.
