Let’s talk watermelons for a moment. 🍉🍉
Not everyone is aware that watermelon isn’t all the same grade.
A lot of work goes into sourcing the best, poor Paul searching the market in the wee hours going stall to stall to make sure he delivers only the best.
When we purchase ours it’s always a premium Grade/ class 1
This is why our watermelon rarely disappoints and is always crisp crunchy sweet and juicy.
Yes the occasional one may be on the borderline but when you’re purchasing big quantities there may always be one or two in a hundred that didn’t quite make the cut.
We always try and deliver a product 2nd to none.
• Class 1 (Premium / First Grade): These watermelons must meet strict visual and sensory standards. They must be fairly well-formed (no pronounced pointed ends), have firm, smooth skin, and show no major physical damage, splits, or temperature injuries (like chilling or severe sunburn). They also must meet a minimum sweetness benchmark (typically measured above 10° Brix).
• Class 2 (Second Grade / "Seconds"): These melons fail to meet the strict aesthetic requirements of Class 1 but are still perfectly good for consumption. They may have slight skin blemishes, minor shape deformities, or uneven colour and low brix count (Sugar)
