A boundary fence without digging a single hole! Last week we renewed 2kms of fence on our NW boundary. The ground being hard ridge with rock bars, and the neighbour having a rather large jackhammer, we opted for full steel end assemblies and all Maxiposts just hammered into the ground. We did bend a few, but the end result is pretty solid! It was great spending the week working as a team with our Spring Creek neighbours.

Incredibly, we recently had the pleasure of hosting a tour of the CQ sub chamber finalists of the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador competition. We talked beef, horses, nutrition, cattle, succession, youth and many other interesting subjects and generally had a great time. Big thanks to Zoe and Helan for organising and logistics!

A big congratulations to Eva who has been working hard with the RGGS Show Team going to shows, looking after the show cattle, leading and competing in junior judging competitions. At the Rockhampton show last week she cleaned up, taking first place in both stud and prime junior judging for her age group! I was super proud to be able to be there.

2026 weaning muster this week- lots of dust and wind but a good week that ran smoothly apart from around 200 weaners breaking out last night. Luckily all were recovered and the yards have been repaired. Big thanks to the crew- Mum and Dad as usual came up from Cambooya, and Molly, Tori and Katie all making the week easy work. Big thanks to all those who helped finish off the back end of the yard rebuild too- Tom, Katie, Eva, Tori, Leon and Eathan all pitching in. More on that job later...

Another year, another load of weaner hay trucked in and ready for weaning. Weaning gets very busy, so this time of year is mostly about preparation for that busy time.

3 weeks ago we received season changing rain in the QLD monsoon low- 188mm over 4 days. There was a couple of days mending floodfences and then we were back in business- with water in the dams to last us well through the year. What a relief!
