Who's ready for peach and nectarine season?!

We are SO excited to announce that bookings are officially OPEN for our Peach & Nectarine Picking Sessions at Cedar Creek Orchard!

𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗨𝗣… 𝗭𝗘𝗘𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪 𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦!

We kick things off on 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 with our amazing Zeefire yellow nectarines, and we're hoping our delicious peaches will be ready to join the fun the following week!

🌱LOOK CLOSELY… CAN YOU SEE THEM?🌱
Hidden amongst the fresh green leaves are the tiny beginnings of our next crop of persimmons.
What you’re looking at in this photo might not look much like a persimmon yet, but these little fruits are already on their journey. They’ve been growing for over a month, and they still have a long way to go before they’re ready for us to pick.
Over the coming months, they will slowly grow and develop, staying on the trees through spring and summer before they are finally ready for harvest around April.
Tiny now.
Growing slowly.
Months to go.
This is one of the things we love about growing fruit. What you see today is only the very beginning of a much longer process.
So next time you enjoy a beautiful, ripe persimmon, remember that it all started with something this small, tucked away amongst the leaves.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐬, 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬… 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭!
It is amazing how quickly things can change in the orchard.

Not long ago, our peach and nectarine trees were covered in beautiful spring blossoms. Now, those flowers have started to make way for the next stage — tiny little fruit!

They may still be small, but they have a long way to grow before they are ready for harvest in November. Over the coming months, these tiny peaches and nectarines will continue to grow, develop their colour and flavour, and slowly become the delicious fruit we all look forward to each season.

There is something pretty special about watching the journey from
bud 🌱→ flower 🌸→ fruit 🍑 unfold right in front of you.

For now, we will let these little ones keep growing… they have plenty of growing left to do!

FROM FLOWERS TO FRUIT — THE WORK CONTINUES!
With beautiful blue skies, some warmer winter days and the orchard covered in pink blossoms, our team is out amongst the peach trees working hard on flower thinning.
It might seem strange to remove some of those beautiful flowers, but each flower has the potential to become a peach. If every single flower was left to grow into fruit, the branches could end up carrying far more peaches than they can properly support.
By carefully thinning the flowers now, we're helping give the remaining fruit more room and resources to grow. It also helps reduce the weight on each branch later in the season — because once those peaches start getting big and heavy, too much fruit can put branches under a lot of stress and even cause them to break.
So while the blossoms look pretty from a distance, there is plenty of work happening amongst them! Our brilliant team is working their asses off, carefully going through the trees and helping set the orchard up for what we hope will be another fantastic fruit season.
For now, we're enjoying these gorgeous spring days, the blue skies and the promise of all those peaches still to come!

🍑 PEACH BLOSSOMS ARE HERE! 🌸

Winter in the orchard is an exciting time. While the days are cold and the trees are only just beginning to wake from dormancy, our peach trees are bursting into flower — giving us the first signs of the crop to come.

Those beautiful pink blossoms are much more than just a pretty winter display. Each flower has the potential to become a peach, which is why this is such an important time in the orchard.

Our brilliant team is now working their way through the trees, carefully looking at each branch and making sure the crop is balanced. We want enough fruiting potential on each branch for a good crop, but not too much.

As the little peaches develop and grow throughout the season, they become surprisingly heavy. Too much fruit on one branch can put a lot of weight and stress on the tree, increasing the risk of branches breaking. By managing the crop early, we can help the trees support the fruit as it grows and produce better-quality peaches.

For now, we’re enjoying the beautiful blossoms and getting the trees ready for the next stage — tiny peaches developing where these flowers are today. 🍑🌸
