We’re pretty particular about the females we keep, and these girls are part of the exciting future we’re building here at JP Cattle Co. One generation at a time. 🐮🧬

Now, be honest… which girl catches YOUR eye? 👀👇

𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒… 𝐈𝐒 𝐉𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐈𝐄’𝐒 𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐖. 🤎🐂

And I know a few of you might be scratching your heads thinking… WHY?! 👀

Let’s talk about something we’re pretty passionate about here at JP Cattle Co. — 𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐘.

Because whilst we all love a big set of horns, a striking colour and a pretty face, we’re trying to breed the 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐀𝐆𝐄.

🧬 Genetics.
🐂 Body & structure.
🌈 Colour.
🤎 Temperament.
🐮 Fertility & maternal ability.
📏 Horn.

And the truth? That complete package is bloody hard to find. It takes years of selective breeding, a fair bit of trial and error, and knowing exactly what you want to achieve.

We believe we have some females in our herd that tick every single box. But you don’t get there without building the right foundations first.

𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋 𝐈𝐒 𝐄𝐗𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐖𝐇𝐘. 👇

Coming out of a rough winter looking like this, with the depth, capacity and beefy body traits we value so highly… the kind of qualities that can really stand out in the show ring - is precisely what we want to see in our paddocks.

Sure, we have females pushing almost 90” tip to tip in our herd. But do they all have THIS kind of body and type? Not always.

And that’s the point.

We’re not here to chase one trait at the expense of another. We’re here to build something special, one generation at a time. ❤️

These girls have absolutely earned their place in our breeding program… and let’s just say, you’ll have to wait and see why. 🫢

𝐍𝐨𝐰, 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰… 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫? 👇

“𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐦’ …𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐢𝐭?”

Today is farmer Jason’s birthday - and of course, that doesn’t mean the work stops around here. 😂🍻

Between us both ticking off odd jobs today, I managed to capture this moment before heading over to join him, drink in hand, simply admiring these incredible animals.

As he heard the back screen door close, that is what he said to me…

From two kids who had no gear and no idea seven years ago, to where we are today - it’s something we rarely stop to think about, let alone celebrate. But what better day than today? 🍻

Texas Longhorns are our passion. They’re a huge part of our identity, our story, and what brings us together. But between two demanding full-time jobs, setting up a new property and everything else life throws our way, it’s so easy to get caught up in the doing and forget to stop and appreciate what we’ve built.

These animals, this lifestyle and the paddock art we’ve worked SO hard towards didn’t happen overnight. And sometimes, all it takes is a quiet moment, a cold drink and a look across the paddock to remind us just how lucky we are.

Happy birthday to farmer Jason. ❤️

And yes - THIS is EXACTLY why you have Longhorns. 🐂🍻

Among our new additions settling in here at the ranch, is HBL Tik Tok, a Cut'N Dried daughter who fetched top priced lot at the 2025 Trails West Texas Longhorns sale 🤑

She is a serious powerhouse and a serious sweetheart 😘 We have no doubts she will quickly become a farm favourite!
