I’m sure lots of people follow this account for updates on when and where you can find home-made Greek food and good vibes, as our name suggests. But did you know as well as being a cook, I’m a full-time beekeeper? I work in largescale commercial operations as well as managing my own little gaggle of hives.
Close to Home is actually an umbrella that captures what I do and what I love: the original name of my beekeeping operation, as well as the food offerings borne out of that.
20 May is World Bee Day, so you can expect to see me sharing a bit more of life in the apiary and all that beekeeping entails.
Bees help pollinate not just food crops for humans, but are part of the brilliant connection of all life in our ecosystems. Bees help pollinate trees, grasses, and everything in between, which helps those plants reproduce, which helps provide nectar, pollen, fruits and seeds to all the creatures in our environment.
And of course, bees make the honey we use in all our gorgeous Greek sweets 💖
