Craft Beer Currie

Craft Beer Currie The craft beer scene in Australia is going insane. I’m checking out the best (hopefully) that QLD and Australia have to offer.

Go the

And go and their sorbet sour “In the Bubble”.

Aromas of banana leak from the deep purple brew. It pours thick and dense.

You can absolutely taste blackberry and banana, as well as some watermelon and heaps of sweetness. This craft beer is like drinking a bowl of fruit with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkling of sherbet on it.

One Drop kicked another goal with this one.

Red Planet IPA from in Brisbane Queensland.

This red IPA is a craft beer worth checking out. Firstly, there’s a generous level of malt and caramel to compliment the dark brown/red colour of the beer and the tan coloured head. However the somewhat fruity aromas and citrus contributions bring you back to IPA territory quick smart. It’s also relatively sharp and bitter, almost drifting into black IPA territory.

Red Planet is extremely tasty and enjoyable. A good mix of winter warmer and summer thirst quencher.

Cherry and coconut dark ale from

New limited craft beer, so had to give it a go.

You can taste subtle notes of cherry and coconut (particularly lingers with each sip). Very balanced. Very easy to drink. Very nice.

“Water” is a San Diego IPA that forms part of the The Fifth Element birthday series from .co

This is a west coast IPA of the finest quality. It’s dank, deep amber in colour and laces the glass beautifully. Flavours are massive - resin, pine, grapefruit and more resin but everything knows its place and is staying in its lane. It’s huge but smooth and balanced. It even finishes with enough bitterness to make you take note.

What a great start to the series!

F11.1% Jet Hazy IPA featuring Sabro hops from

Ok, elephant in the room first - yes you can tell it’s 11.1%. There’s a massive tangerine aroma and tropical, citrus flavour profile. The beer has a slightly syrupy mouthfeel, finishes bitter and warms you from the inside on a cold night, but somehow the craft beer is relatively easy to drink.

My first Hope beer for a while, and was certainly worth waiting for.

“Let The Good Times Roll” oat cream IPA from

Got it in a mixed box from

Mildly hazy and extremely tropical. Think of a glorious fruit smoothie that’s soft, pillowy and absolutely delicious.

I haven’t had a craft beer from Shapeshifter for ages. This did NOT disappoint!

What an epic craft beer pastry stout from in Brisbane! “Puppetry of the Peanuts” looks intimidating with the 14.5% ABV on the can, but the beer is so smooth and tasty you quickly forget just how strong it is. Don’t get me wrong - you know it’s not a mid immediately. But the booziness is well hidden.

Taste-wise it’s all about chocolate and peanuts, and more peanuts, caramel and vanilla. The beer is quite sweet, dense and loaded with flavour. A true “dessert in a can” experience.

I just wish I had another one. POTP is stunning.

“Scoop - Maple Berry Pancake Ice Cream Sour” from .co craft beer brewery in Brisbane.

Honestly, just think of a fresh buttermilk pancake, loaded with blueberries and raspberries, soaked with maple syrup and topped with cream. That’s this beer from start to finish.

It’s smooth and slightly dense with some low lying tartness to balance out the otherwise sickly sweetness.

Just ridiculous…
