Volume 2 of Full Metal Jacket from Blackflag Brewing

Like most limited release beers from the Sunshine Coast crew, this beer hides the ABV well while tasting special and unique. FMJ is extremely clean, clear and well carbonated, with some relatively mild, but present, bitterness. It’s well balanced making difficult to choose a dominant flavour between the pine, grapefruit, citrus and malt. All the flavour combine seamlessly to produce an enjoyable, approachable west coast IPA.

Captain Pecan, Starship Enterpies - Pecan Pie Barley Wine from Brisbane legends Ross Kenrick

This has no business being as easy drinking as it is given the somewhat scary 13.9% ABV.

So much pecan. So much sweetness. So much exact flavour profile of drinking a Christmas pecan pie! I’ve got no idea how it’s done, but I’m glad Bacchus found a way to “make it so”.

Highly recommended.

If you like your oat cream double IPAs creamy, look no further! This one is soft, smooth, hazy and easy to drink for 8.5%ABV. I got flavours of peach, orange and tart citrus backed by a massive tropical aroma.

Such a great beer. You can tell they went big on the hops with this one.

Nice and malty, but undeniably an IPA. A decent level of bitterness too.

This beer has been on my bucket list since release. So glad I got to try it.

Hip Hop Haze from Hip Hops Brewers | Brendale Brewery & Taproom in Brisbane.

This craft beer is an easy drinking (mildly) hazy IPA that brings some generous flavours of grapefruit and mango, wrapped up with a mildly bitter bow. The brew is well carbonated and quenches a Friday thirst.

Aromas of banana leak from the deep purple brew. It pours thick and dense.

You can absolutely taste blackberry and banana, as well as some watermelon and heaps of sweetness. This craft beer is like drinking a bowl of fruit with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkling of sherbet on it.

One Drop kicked another goal with this one.

Red Planet IPA from in Brisbane Queensland.

This red IPA is a craft beer worth checking out. Firstly, there’s a generous level of malt and caramel to compliment the dark brown/red colour of the beer and the tan coloured head. However the somewhat fruity aromas and citrus contributions bring you back to IPA territory quick smart. It’s also relatively sharp and bitter, almost drifting into black IPA territory.

Red Planet is extremely tasty and enjoyable. A good mix of winter warmer and summer thirst quencher.
