Queensland Parliament will vote within the next day on legislation that could expose farms to State-backed land access and compulsory-acquisition pathways for a range of private projects, including wind farms, data centres - you name it.

This Bill is not limited to critical minerals. It mentions critical minerals once. Resource tenure holders have an existing pathway to mineral extraction. So what is the real motive with the Bill?

The government has assured a range of protections will be listed in the guidelines to the Bill. However, once these powers become law, promises and guidelines will not be enough. Landowners need enforceable protections for their land, water, biosecurity, businesses and livelihoods.

Agricultural land needs to be recognised as strategically important to the State.

AgForce is calling on every Queensland MP to oppose the expansion of compulsory acquisition powers beyond the existing private infrastructure for public benefit test.

If the Government says farmers have nothing to worry about, it should have no problems with putting protections for landowners into the legislation.

This is the last chance. Contact your Queensland MP now. Share this post before the vote.

⛏️ GET THE CRITICAL MINERALS BILL RIGHT BEFORE IT BECOMES LAW

AgForce’s SEQ Director & President presented at a community forum in Toowoomba last night, continuing the conversation with producers and community members about the Queensland Government’s proposed Critical Minerals Bill and what it could mean for landholders.

AgForce continues to strongly advocate for the protection of producers’ land-use rights and to ensure the expansion of Queensland’s critical minerals sector does not come at an unacceptable cost to agriculture.

📢 Now is the time to have your say. We encourage producers and landholders to learn more about the proposed changes and add their voice to AgForce’s campaign. Help us send a strong message that Queensland can develop its critical minerals industry without compromising the rights of primary producers.
