We are making significant progress with our October Ram Sale plans, highlighted by a super productive meeting with the Elders sale team last week.

On Wednesday, Mike and Ben completed the initial draft/evaluation of the rams.
We were very grateful to have Neil, the Founder of SheepMaster, join our team for the day. He offered valuable feedback, which was overwhelmingly positive regarding the depth, quality, and consistency of the selection.

Over the next few months, the sale lineup will be fine-tuned, and previews will be shared.

MONARCH! A HUGE SUCCESS AT TWIN PEAKS SHEEPMASTER STUD

The outstanding young Monarch weaner ram, pictured below, was sired by Monarch 414, who was purchased for $40,000 at the SheepMaster Parent Stud Sale in NSW in October 2024.

Young Monarch was weaned at under 4 months of age and is one of the youngest in a drop of 358 lambs weaned over 14 weeks from this important sire line.

At this early stage, Twin Peaks believes this young sire is among the best progeny bred from Monarch 414 and is expected to surpass his sire in overall quality.
This classic SheepMaster ram lamb displays near-perfect feet, excellent body structure and rapid maturity.

FERTILITY IS THE KEY TO PROFITABILITY

The number of lambs sired by Monarch 414 over the 14 week joining period could well be the best result achieved in the SheepMaster breed to date.

Monarch’s first progeny will be available at the Twin Peaks and Elders (AuctionPlus) Inaugural Ram and Ewe sale on 9 October at the Twin Peaks property, 24 Cook Rd, Bornholm, 25km East of Albany.

Meanwhile, yesterday out in Mountain Country, at the base of the Stirling Ranges, Mike and Ben lamb marked the progeny of our Blue Tag ewes. These “girls” were specifically selected for their strong early-shedding qualities and were joined in October with four Red Tag SheepMaster rams purchased at the Elleker sale in 2023.

During what proved to be a very dry joining period, the ewes were supplemented first with oats and later with wheat. 123% lambing was recorded at marking.

We have settled on the name “Sanctuary Hill” for the Torbay farm, which perfectly captures the instant connection we felt for the land, the moment we laid eyes on it.

Improving our pastures has been an early and essential focus as we begin the process of adapting our SheepMasters to a vastly different environment.

Over the past six weeks, Mike has concentrated on building soil health and productivity by applying:

* 500kg/ha Super Min - a broad-spectrum, mineral-rich fertiliser from the organically certified Mineral Fertiliser Company near Ravensthorpe

* 1t/ha Bornholm Lime

* 1t/ha Pingrup Dolamite

* 375kg/ha Super Potash (with added Selenium and Cobalt)

* 125kg/ha Urea

Together these applications mark the beginning of our commitment to creating nutritious, resilient pastures that will sustain healthy, thriving sheep.

We will continue to draw upon the invaluable knowledge and experience of our new neighbours, recognising that this journey will involve plenty of trial, error and evolution along the way!

Our girls at Torbay farm have adjusted well to the new environment under the rotational grazing schedule implemented recently.
Progress on infrastructure upgrade is notable, with majority of boundary fences replaced and internal fencing works planned to resume in mid-May.
Upcoming milestones include delivery of sheep yards next week and commencement of construction by month-end.
Exciting times!

Twin Peaks SheepMaster Team are excited to provide an update on what has been happening in our "patch" over the past few months.

We have recently purchased a beautiful farm in the Torbay/Kronkup area, West of Albany, which is traditionally a more reliable rainfall region than where our core business is run.

As with all Agricultural enterprises, mitigating seasonal risk is a priority for our business and watching this long held dream of ours come to fruition, brings us great joy.

What does this mean for our flock?

We will continue to run our SheepMasters across both holdings and are working through the logistics of this process, daily, as a Team.

We are currently undertaking a major refencing project on the Torbay farm, which involves realigning and replacing fences and preparing for new yards to be constructed.

Ongoing updates to come........

We have 14 rams coming up in the Auctions Plus Elders WA invitational all breeds ram sale.

https://auctionsplus.com.au/auctions/sheep/elders-wa-invitational-all-breeds-ram-sale/127604

The auction is online only but we are happy to arrange for live viewing if anyone is interested.

All the rams have been inspected and approved by our agent Nigel Hawke.

The red and yellow numbered tags are May/ June and the Orange and Purple numbered tags are June/ July drops.

The boys have mostly been on grass for the last 6 month but have had some grain over the last few weeks so are ready to head out to ewes.

They have had their Glanvac 3s B12 shots and 30ml of Tridectin on the 19th of December and had their brucellosis test earlier in the year.

Cheers.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
