ANOTHER WEEK DOWN. 👋🎂

Honestly, I can’t recall half of it. 😂

Busy? YES.
Major disasters? NONE TO REPORT.
A small fu***ng miracle, really.

Ooooh, and MASTER F HAS BEEN HELPING OUT, so you might spot him around our sweet little space. ❤️

It’s also been a week of BIG emotions.

I’ve been reading about the struggles other small businesses are facing and, bloody hell, these are uncertain times.

It makes me even more aware of what it means when you choose to spend your money and your time with us.

I don’t take that s**t for granted. Not for a second.

And the conversations lately? The stories people have trusted me with, the big feelings, the honest moments shared across the counter…

I feel pretty damn honoured that people feel safe enough to bring a little bit of their real lives into my little corner of the world.

Business is hard. People are complicated. The future is uncertain.

But my little corner of the world is pretty fu***ng special. ❤️

PRETTY ON THE OUTSIDE. EMOTIONAL SUPPORT REQUIRED ON THE INSIDE. 🎂😂

Well, it’s Monday. Yesterday’s post never happened and today the cake lady is still not particularly interested in talking to the internet.

I’ve got cake to make, orders to plan, a brain full of ideas and approximately 47 other things fighting for attention.

And that’s just the business s**t.

SOME DAYS, WE ARE JUST GETTING THROUGH THE FU***NG DAY.

And I reckon we need to be a little more honest about that in small business life.

You can absolutely love what you’ve built and still be exhausted by it.

You can be grateful for your customers and still worry about the future.

You can have big plans and absolutely no energy to execute a single one of them.

ALL OF THOSE THINGS CAN EXIST AT ONCE.

So if you’re running a business, raising kids, fighting for your kids, or quietly wondering how the hell you’re supposed to keep doing all the things…

You’re not the only one.

There’s a real human behind every little business doing their best with whatever they’ve got left in the tank.

And here, in my little sweet space, I hope you can just be human for a bit.

No pretending. No perfect lives. No bulls**t.

Just people, cake and a safe space to exhale. ❤️

ANOTHER WEEK DOWN. 🎂

Another fu***ng full on cake week.

Tomorrow update ….OPEN 8–12 for Charlie Chops’ birthday because apparently I don’t sit still and he’s not here to eat the cake. 😂

This week, Lots of new faces.
Lots of the same questions, I may or may not answer them in an entertaining post. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Yes the credit card surcharge is being absorbed by us, no I am not double dipping. No I will not entertain a back and forth about government BS changes, respectfully you are always entitled to your opinion as am I.

Supplier price increases?
FU***NG RIDICULOUS.

And all those incidental little changes we were told weren’t really going to happen?

😂😂😂 No surprise, they did increase.

Tired feet. Full brain. Not much social media from me because honestly, I just haven’t had the words.

I’ve been thinking a lot about small business and the future.

I’ve been here before.
I know how fu***ng scary it can get.

And I’m bloody lucky I don’t have a whole team relying on me, because I’m not sure I’d sleep at night carrying that stress.

BUT THEN…

New faces. Old faces. Chats. Laughs. Cake.

And now my teenage helpers are heading back into the expensive education daycare system, so I’m flying solo again. 😂

Small business right now…

WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO?

Credit card surcharge changes.

Do we absorb it?
Do we change prices?
Do we wear yet another cost because we don’t want anyone feeling ripped off?

Because here’s the uncomfortable bit…

Making a profit is not ripping people off.

It’s how you keep the bloody doors open.

Why is it completely acceptable for massive businesses to make money, but when a little business tries to remain profitable we’re somehow supposed to feel guilty about it?

I don’t get it.

There is already enough uncertainty for small business without constantly wondering how the f**k we’re supposed to make all of this work.

Anyway…

Firstly… I am sorry. ❤️ Today was a lot! Unexpectedly hecticAF.

To our regulars who barely got their usual check-in, chat or hug this weekend — especially my fave little humans who always get a cuddle.

You caught us on a weekend where we were hecticAF. We like to at least look like we know what we are doing, today I am undecided if we did whatsoever 🤞

We ran out of SO. MANY. THINGS. The wait at times was RIDICULOUS! I think I recall waving to people I don’t even remember seeing come in the door 🤦‍♀️

Restocking. Drinks. Clearing. Cakes. Repeat.

Our regulars basically jumped in and helped us look like we had our s**t together.

We clearly did not. 😂

WTF WHERE DID YOU ALL COME FROM? You just kept coming!

And then…

THE CAKES.

So. Many. Cakes.

We literally played cake box Jenga all weekend!

Gratitude is such a w***y word because honestly, it doesn’t even come close.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for every good, tricky, amazing and absolutely fu***ng exhausting moment.

You have no idea what this little business means to me.

We need to talk.

Because apparently you can’t run a small business anymore without needing a degree in compliance, a crystal ball and a fu***ng miracle.

And I’m genuinely wondering how many of us are just quietly thinking:

WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K IS GOING ON?

Rules.
Costs.
More rules.
More costs.

And nobody seems to know what half of it is actually achieving.

I can see what’s coming.

And I don’t think we’re going to like it.

There. I said it.

Anyway… 😂

Back to the land of cake.

This week was BIG.

Cakes everywhere.
A lost cake. A found cake. The day after the cake was lost found 🤦‍♀️
Lost messages. Still looking for the owners of those 🤷🏼‍♀️
Beautiful humans.
Sad goodbyes.
A bloody sell-out today.

And Saturday?

I nearly didn’t go.

I was terrified to close up because WHAT IF.

What if someone was disappointed? LOUD opinions.
What if I lost money?
What if, what if, fu***ng WHAT IF?

But I went.

My human played his grand final.

We screamed from the sidelines.

THEY FU***NG WON. 🏆

And some absolute legends helped us get out the door when we were too bloody busy to even close properly. Unfortunately the mess remained till we returned.

So this week has reminded me of something.

Business is hard.

People are complicated.

The future is uncertain.

But my little corner of the world is pretty fu***ng special.

Next week could be our biggest yet. Now is the time to order your fu***ng cake or not, your choice. Don’t get angry at me when I say no -you have been told.

And somehow, underneath all the bulls**t…

I’m really bloody grateful.

For this little business.
For the people in it.
For the people around it.

And for being reminded that sometimes you just have to shut the fu***ng door, go live your life and trust that the cake will still be there tomorrow. Good night cake lovers! Sleep well See you Thursday! ❤️

⚽️ GRAND FINAL SATURDAY.

We’re opening 7:30am–10am ONLY this Saturday.

At 10am, I’m closing the doors and heading to the soccer sidelines with his sister — the two of us being his loudest bloody cheerleaders. 🏆⚽️❤️

Because sometimes you just have to put the business brain down and go be Mum (and embarrassing)

So get in early for your ☕ coffee, 🍳 brekky, 🥪 toasties, 🥐 bakery goodies & 🍰 ALL THE CAKE.

7:30–10am. Then the cake lady & fam have LEFT THE BUILDING. 😂

Because the most important booking this Saturday is a GRAND FINAL. 🏆

And I’ll be on that sideline screaming like a bloody lunatic because this team has a WIN on the cards. 😂🏆⚽️
