Andie delivered a healthy calf while on our last morning of the 2026 Royal Adelaide Show. It’s taken a while to find the perfect name for this little Princess, who has been, and probably will continue to be called just that - Princess

2026 Melbourne Royal round up

WHAT A WEEK! New friends from SA, we had only met two weeks earlier at Royal Adelaide, made the trip over to help us out for the week. We took the same little team of three and were able to bump in without any real dramas. The clipping chute was unloaded first time!

Show day rolled around and all we can say is WOW. From the first show this year at Canberra where Tosh was a wee calf at foot, and the number of judges who have commented that he had some great potential and couldn’t wait to see him grow up … to now. Where a wee 15 month old bull dominated the show.

Tosh was not only Junior champion, but he managed to eke out Grand Champion from a bull with a few hundred kg on him. (Incidentally we were pleased to see the trios interstate hadn’t impacted his average weight gain at all!). The Supreme Exhibit judging was nerve wracking as the Grand Champion Female was also a junior but we were surprised and absolutely elated when Tosh was named the winner.

It was great to see so many folds represented and a large number of highlands attending. We can only hope we continue to grow numbers at Melbourne in the future. Congratulations to all who put in the effort and attended. The cattle all looked amazing!

Big thanks to Lachlan for the late night and early morning feeds. Was awesome arriving expecting to clean a bed and it already been done.

And to Chez Hedger who donned the AHCS uniform once again to lead the monsters in the ring.

2026 Royal Adelaide Show round up.

We took a small team of three over to SA for the 2026 show. We departed two days later than expected as we weee waiting on a calf. “Not long now” became our motto at the start of our showcation, but in the end we just had to leave. Despite the late departure, Tosho still managed to have a hot date with Eevie Grace of Amrabull Park.

Arriving at the show, we had such a short bump in time and with one of the team pretty much physically useless, and another having a meeting right as we were supposed to finish unloading, it was a bit rushed. Because of this, when I called the driver who was on her way to park the trailer, and asked “where’s the clipping chute”, it’s not really surprising that the answer was “still on the trailer ….” A quick chat and an extra ticket to bring the trailer BACK in, and we were finally unloaded correctly, set up and settled in.

Tosho proudly took our Junior and Grand Champion Highland Bull. At 15 months, it seems he’s following in his parents footsteps and taking the show ring by storm. This, combined with Emmet and Méabh’s show successes allowed us to be awarded Most Successful Highland Exhibitor.

We were very proud of the team - cattle and humans - that made the week a pleasant stay. It was great to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and also to meet some extended family. Seems they love the coos as much as we do!
