It is with great sadness we say good bye to a very special member of the Centre Plus family Clare Drenkhahn.

Our deepest condolences go out to Anthony and family. You are in our prayers. Clare will be missed by all who knew her.

Clare was an exceptional, caring and courageous lady. A fantastic cook, a proud mum and grandmother, a light in our community and someone we were honoured to have known and had as part of the Centre Plus family.

Her farewell will be January 22nd, 10am with a graveside service at Western District Memorial Park, Dubbo.

Her wishes are for everyone to wear BLUE, her favourite colour.

Clare’s life will be celebrated after the service at Club Dubbo, all are welcome.

Please no flowers because of allergies.

If you wish, donations to Can Assist Parkes, Melanoma Institute Australia, or any other charity would be a fitting tribute to this wonderful lady.

Tomorrow is the big day. 👏🏻

For those that haven’t been to a Centre Plus Field Day the weather never worries us.

The day is fully under cover, the tea and coffee goes all day and the pulled pork and lamb rolls will be hot.

Last Friday Timmy and Jimmy got very excited for lunch catered by The Modern Foodie Narromine.

Unfortunately things turned ugly when we had to tell them it wasn’t until Friday the 12th. 😉

Centre Plus Annual Field Day Friday 12th September 2025.

This year we welcome Will MacSmith from Crown Agriculture as a Guest Speaker.

Will is speaking about his work developing and using an on-farm feedlot to not only relieve grazing pressure but also increase profitability across his grazing business.

Will's feedlot is measuring individual animal feed intake. Also tracks feed by pen measuring intake by progeny group.

If you have questions about feedlots and rations he’s the right person to ask.

The boys are working hard to get everything ready for the Centre Plus Field Day on Friday 12th but the regular work must go on.

This week micron sampling and lamb marking were on the agenda.

Ewes joined to lambs marked 133%, so we a pretty happy with that result.

Centre Plus Annual Field Day Friday 12th September 2025.

This year we welcome Sally Martin as a Guest Speaker.

Sally will be speaking about her work with Genomic Only Breeding Values (gBVs).

Genomic Only Breeding Values (gBVs) are a new tool designed for commercial Merino breeders, predominantly targeted at people who are breeding their own rams. Built on the same technology as the Flock Profile, gBVs allow you to rank individual sheep using genomic data rather than just flock-level results. While currently only available for Merinos, options for other breeds are likely only a couple of years away. At the field day you’ll hear how gBVs work, learn about the supporting Producer Demonstration Project, and discover how you can get involved.

The Producer Demonstration Site (PDS) project is showcasing how commercial Merino producers can combine emerging genomic tools with existing genetic evaluations to drive greater genetic gain. Tools such as Flock Profile, Ram Team Manager/Tracker, Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs), and now Genomic Breeding Values will be integrated into demonstration sites. The national project will provide practical, on-farm examples and educational resources to show how these tools can improve ram and ewe selection, lift productivity, and enhance breeding decisions across the industry.

Centre Plus Sale Rams now available! 👏🏻

Centre Plus is pleased to announce that our 2023 drop sale rams are ready for inspection.

These Rams range in prices from $800 to $4000. The prices have been set using a combination of the Sustainable Merino & Merino Lamb Index’s.

These rams have been classed into A and B grades. The B grade rams were assessed to have some minor visual faults and a discount has been applied. Care should be taken when selecting a viewing team to have a mix of A and B grades. We would suggest having at least 3 to 4 times as many rams as manageable number to view for your final selection..
