Back in the Australian springtime… after a little dip into Canadian autumn breezes and colours. 😉🍁🌿

Some of you might know that feeling of living a bicultural life at opposite seasons. How food and seasons have let me travel through time and place in my own backyard and kitchen have been an inspiration for Québec Kitchen Abroad.

The biggest chapter of the book, “Traditions”, is mainly about Québécois favourite dishes through the seasons, produce and celebrations. It’s got a nostalgic touch, exploring and revealing these unique habits of ours and recipes many expats will be grateful to find such as: poutine with cheese curds all from scratch, tourtière, fondue chinoise and so much more.

Even though the recipes were created in the Southern Hemisphere, you can adapt and enjoy most them wherever you are, at your season, with accessible ingredients.

Find a copy of Québec Kitchen Abroad first print hardcover via my website, or get in touch to find out where to find it locally in the Snowy Valleys and Riverina, Sydney, or in Montréal, where only a few copies remain.

I’ve been squirrelling again... 🐿️🍁

Collecting flavours, ideas, memories and probably a few too many things to take back home. 😋

Now let’s hope it all fits in the suitcase 😅

Tartares & French fries, a dining favourite I get to enjoy a little more in Québec! 😋

When I’m here and dining out with family and friends, it remains one of my favourite picks as “fun food”.

Not that tartare is difficult to make at home, it’s just a matter of finding suitable fresh fish and meat for this raw dish. In my little remote kitchen Down Under, I use smoked salmon as a solution to the limited options. The recipe in Québec Kitchen Abroad might be useful for those in a similar situation!

Et vous, expats québécois en Australie ou ailleurs dans le monde, what’s a Québec dish you miss most because you don’t find it much on restaurant menus in your new home? Beside poutine! 😉

This is my second apple season this year, now in Québec! 🍎🍁🍏

The orchards are filling with beautiful local apples, and it’s the perfect time for apple pie.

This one was made and photographed in my home studio for my cookbook Québec Kitchen Abroad, where you’ll find the recipe and a little taste of Québec’s autumn traditions. With maple syrup in the filling, of course. 😋

I never get tired of farmers’ markets. 🍎🥕🍁

I love wandering around, discovering what’s in season and, of course, taking way too many photos!

Marché Jean-Talon has always been one of my favourite places in Montréal, and you’ll find plenty of my photographs of this market in my book Québec Kitchen Abroad.

I’ll be signing copies at Librairie Gourmande, right at the entrance of the market, tomorrow, Saturday, September 19, from 11 am to 1 pm. Come say bonjour if you’re around !
