In the August Edition of the home brew club we conducted a “Hop Experiment” where we will all brew the same batch but differ in the variety of hop we use. We tasted brews from Tom, Kurt, Callan, and the first brew from Rick and Paul - all very good beers! Next month we will be able to taste the difference that a hop variety makes on the final taste and aroma of a beer.

July 2026 was all about DISTILLING 🥃 Alex brought in his turbo 500 still plus a few other bits and pieces and we chatted about homebrew scale distilling. We also had Luke from Hellyers Road drop in to discuss distilling on a commercial scale. We had a long and fascinating chat about all of the aspects of distilling, and even tasted Alex's batch of Whisky. A great way to change things up a bit!

This months session we brewed a batch on Kurts Brewzilla. He brewed a Hazy IPA featuring Idaho 7 and Citra hops. We tasted Lucys Stout and a version of Kurts hazy. Next session is planned for Sunday 5th July to talk all things Distilling!

We're on, 1pm at the brewery. Today's theme is "Brew on someone else's gear", so Kurt has offered to bring in his kit to brew a hazy IPA. Come along and grab the recipe, and take home the ingredients you need to brew it yourself! Also - very important - bring in some of your own home brew for the crew to taste and discuss!

I put the latest batch on tap last weekend, and I'm probably going to have to take it off tap because it's selling too fast and might not make it to the next club session on May 10th! "Green Fingers" is a fresh hop hazy pale that's begging to be consumed with its hoppy, fruity goodness.
