FROM ONE JOB TO THE NEXT 🥩👷♂️
A little bit of real talk from behind the scenes of running a small business.
A lot of people see you own a business and think, “You must be doing alright… you own your own business.”
The reality can be very different.
I don’t work two jobs because I enjoy being exhausted or because I’ve got nothing better to do. I do it because I’ve got a family to provide for, bills to pay and a business that needs to keep moving forward.
Small business isn’t always the big pay cheque, fancy cars and plenty of spare time that people sometimes imagine it to be. There are wages, rent, electricity, stock, equipment, insurance, taxes, suppliers, bank fees, repairs and a million other expenses that people never see.
Some weeks are great. Some weeks are bloody tough.
But we keep showing up.
We keep unlocking the doors, serving our customers, putting quality product in the cabinet and doing everything we can to build something we can be proud of.
And that’s why supporting your local small businesses really does matter.
Every purchase, every recommendation, every person who chooses to shop local instead of going elsewhere — it genuinely makes a difference.
We’re incredibly grateful to every single person who walks through the doors of Valentine Butchers and supports what we’re building.
Small businesses might look big from the outside, but behind every one of them are real people, real families and a hell of a lot of hard work.
