We have an opportunity for one or more new fig customers.
Our lush figs are best suited to restaurants and bakeries. We aim for firm enough to slice, often too soft for the extra handling of domestic retail.
Melbs deliveries to west of Hawthorn, north of St Kilda, and east of Ascot Vale.
All trays are mixed varieties... mostly white adriatic, black genoa and persian prolific.
Credit the rich flavour to healthy soil life from 29 years of organic practices.

We had a dry spring, then at solstice, December 21, the forecast was 4 - 30 mm rain, 25% chance of greater than 30mm. We received 106mm, similarly the 800 hectare catchment of our little creek. Hoowee, we were very lucky. The creek overflowed through the Murrnong floodplain forest, and replenished the dam.
A lovely flood event that Murrnong is designed to embrace.

Join us for our 2026 Permaculture Design Course. We meet for 7 weekends over 5 months, bite-sized chunks of rich learning, with a catch-up back at Murrnong one year after completion. Every day is located at one or more permaculture demonstration sites, ranging from houses in streets to rural properties.

Have you ever thought you can't join in the task of creating the world we want because you..
don't have enough money
don't own your own place
don't have time
don't have access to the levers of power?
The venue, local hosts and David give many working examples of initiative, cooperation, collective self-reliance, frugality and boycott of industrial capitalism, all considered through a permaculture lens.

We covered all areas of the farm from the olive grove, fruit and nut orchard, livestock and low irrigation tree crops, to the house design and construction, vegetable gardens and composting systems. And all the wonderful systems in between that tie these things together to create what is Murrnong farm.

The vibrant green of the fresh spring growth was a delightful backdrop. Thank you to all who attended.

This Sunday, Oct 19, come see what a grass field with no trees or buildings can look like after 28 years of development, self-reliant living with most of our food and energy coming from the property, and sales of surplus production. Thoughtful and well informed landscape planning, evolving tree management, and well cared for productive animal friends nicely integrated with the farm and household.
