Did you know Ramsar Site 482 - the Peel-Yalgorup Wetlands, regularly supports over 1% of the global population of several waterbird species?

It might sound like a small figure, but in conservation terms, it’s huge! And it’s one of the key reasons this site is recognised as a Wetland of International Importance.

Species that often meet this 1% threshold include:
πŸ”Ή Red-necked stint
πŸ”Ή Red-capped plover
πŸ”Ή Sharp-tailed sandpiper
πŸ”Ή Fairy tern
πŸ”Ή Australian shelduck

These incredible birds depend on the Peel-Yalgorup system’s lakes, estuaries, and mudflats for feeding, breeding, and roosting. Their presence is a powerful reminder of how vital this wetland is on a global scale!

Protecting Ramsar 482 means safeguarding species that span countries and continents.
