Make sure you bookmark 6th July for The Soils for Life Dairy convo series with Chris as the guest speaker! He will be talking about his success with multi species pastures, should be really good!

How can building soil health support long-term resilience on dairy farms through droughts, floods and changing seasonal conditions?

Join us for our first Dairy Convo with Chris Eggert from Oxhill Organics, whose family’s farming journey has focused on improving soil health, building resilience and adapting their farming system over time.
Chris will share practical insights and lessons from their transition toward farming practices that regenerate soils and landscapes for resilient dairy systems, including navigating flood recovery and extended dry periods. There’ll also be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

A summary of the blog by Biocast from Island Biologicals on what Chris is doing with multi species pastures

Check out the fantastic blog from Lee Biocast from Island Biologicals sharing some insights of what he has learnt from Chris over the times he has visited, it is a great read and the full video from the other day is there too!

Happy winter?

Do we still do seasons? We've noticed quite a few plants way out of whack this year. The old rules about what to plant where and when and how have faded to rough guidelines.

It's forecast to be a warm one with the likely onset of a 'super El Nino' and noone even knows what that means because it's unpredictable at the best of times and this one is on a warmest-ever baseline...

Aaaanyway as our 4yo robot enthusiast would say (if he knew the word resilience): "Activate resilience mode". Weather matters of course but we can take steps to not be completely at its mercy. We see projects all over the world greening the deserts, rebuilding the topsoil at scale, holding water in the landscape, cooling land surface, increasing production and human and animal wellbeing all the while. As you'll see in our latest blog, for some people it can be as simple as putting out a few different seeds when they see the chance.
