🦞 LOBSTERS OR ALL SIZES 🦞

🌊 Last week, Whitby Lobster Hatchery got involved in a super unique lobster release! Our head aquarist Joe Moody teamed up with North Eastern Association of Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities and Danny from Edwin Jenkins on to release some of our juvenile lobsters, as well as many adult lobsters landed by the Scarborough fleet. 🛥️

✌️ The adult lobsters released were v-notched, meaning a small, triangular nick is taken out of their tail. Depending on how frequently they moult, a v-notched will give them 2-3 years safe in the wild, where they can't be landed and sold. 💰

🐟 A message from NEIFCA:
"Today [13/08/26] North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (NEIFCA) received over 1000 juvenile lobsters to be released at various locations at sea around the North Sea coastline. This was achieved with the assistance from Joe, a staff member from Whitby Lobster Hatchery.
NEIFCA also was very kindly donated approximately 50 kilograms of lobsters from Danny at Edwin Jenkinson’s of Scarborough which were then also taken to sea to be v-notched and returned back to the sea alive, across various locations throughout the NEIFCA district.
A special thank you to Daniel Bennett of NEIFCA for organising this very successful and sustainable event."

🦞TIME TO NAME TWO HENS!🦞

💙These beautiful ladies were brought to us from the vessel Amanda-M off the coast of Whitby! Once they have hatched their eggs with us they will be returned back to the sea with a protective marking, a v-notch 🌊

🏰Please help us name them beginning with the letters F and G! Reminder, we are still on the Disney category ✨
